Zica Toys is a great up and upcoming toy maker, who already has some terrific retro figures under their belt with the Six Million Dollar Man toy line. They also look to be working with Fresh Monkey Fiction on their upcoming Eagle Force revival. Before we get to Eagle Force, however, there’s Captain Action!
The infamous 1960’s toy line was initially conceived of as a 12″ scale line with removable uniforms and disguises that could enable the hero to look like any countless number of other characters. In fact, Captain Action is being done today the same way with toy maker Round 2. But Zica Toys is also bringing the Captain Action license to the 1:18 scale, working with Boss Fight Studio. Over on the Zica Toys Facebook page the first reveal of the sculpt for the updated Captain Action test shot has been revealed, and it looks pretty fantastic. The articulation is somewhat different from other modern 4″ figures, but still looks really impressive, and knowing that Boss Fight is playing a role gives me a whole lot of confidence.
It looks like we could be in for a big couple of years in the Captain Action realm, as we look forward to an upcoming animated series and additional figures in both scales (not to mention an appearance in the Amazing Heroes line, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter a little while ago). Check out the sculpt reveal below.
