Toy News Roundup: ‘Figma Avengers’, ‘Hot Toys’ and Mattel Buys Mega Brands
Today is Sunday, which means it’s Toy news roundup day! Yes, it’s time for another epic edition of the Toy News Roundup. Here we round-up all of the most important toy news of the week from our site, and also link you to any toy news that we didn’t cover. Let’s see what the big toy news was this week, shall we?
HOT TOYS KERBEROS SAGA
Last week Hot Toys announced that they would be continuing on with the Artist Collection Series, and this week Hot Toys announced the next figure, the Hot Toys Protect Gear Kerberos Panzer Jager sixth scale figure.
GAME OF THRONES REPLACEMENTS
If you purchased Funko’s new Game of Thrones Legacy Collection figures and they ended up broken, you’re not alone. Apparently there is transparent plastic in that joints, causing the figures to break really easily. This week Funko has announced they have solved the quality control issue and will accept returns.
PACIFIC RIM SERIES 5
NECA has been cranking out the Pacific Rim 7 inch action figures. They have already release 3 series’ and still have at least 2 series planned. This week NECA showed off the first Pacific Rim Series 5 figure, Gipsy Danger 2.0.
RINGWRATH 1/6 SCALE FIGURE
This year is going to be huge for 12 inch figure collectors that are also fans of Lord of the Rings. First we have Asmus Toys making figures, and then just this week ACI Toys announced their first figure, the Ringwrath sixth scale figure.
A lot of people have been anticipating the day that Max Factory puts their Figma Avengers figures up for pre-order. Well, this week they put their first figure up for order, the Figma Avengers Thor!
DIAMOND SELECT’S TOY FAIR 2014 PRODUCTS
If you were able to go to Toy Fair and see Diamond Select’s products, this is likely just going to be a refresher. Though if you weren’t able to attend, check out Diamond Select Toys’ Toy Fair 2014 products (well some of them). There are even some that weren’t allowed to be photographed.
AN IN SCALE MR. STAY PUFT
This year Diamond Select is going to be taking their already-popular 12 inch vinyl Stay Puft Marshmallow Man bank, and make it even bigger! Twice the size to be exact. Comes in different versions.
The weekly ThreeA Q&A has been published. Some highlights are the announcement of Black Widow and Ms. Marvel in their Marvel line, and 6 inch 2000AD figures are going to be put up for pre-order ASAP.
MATTEL ACQUIRES MEGA BRANDS
It looks like Mattel wants a piece of the construction toys industry, as they have announced the acquisition of Mega Brands, the makers of the popular Mega Blocks toys.
