Threezero Previews Complete TMNT 2014 and Titanfall Sixth Scale Action Figures
Threezero has put a nice surprise on their Facebook page this morning – a couple of teaser images for their some of their complete TMNT 2014 and TItanfall sixth scale action figures.
Now obviously all four of the TMNT 2014 Ninja Turtles aren’t shown in the teaser image (they are all going to be produced though), but we do get a very good look at Leonardo and Michelangelo. Each of the figures looks like they are going to contain all of the armor and accessories that we saw them have on-screen. Michelangelo even looks like he’s going to be coming with a 1/6th scale skateboard accessory!
Whether of not you fell in love with the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, you can’t say that these figures don’t look stunning. Apart from customs and action figures that were made specifically for kids, this is going to be the first time that we get any 12-inch Ninja Turtles action figures that were meant specifically for collectors.
I’m definitely going to be supporting this line. If we all support it, Threezero may see that TMNT has potential and they might eventually go for some of the classic Ninja Turtles licenses. It is probably a long stretch to think like that, but remember that we vote with our wallets?
The other teaser that Threezero released was for their upcoming Stryder Titan action figure. This isn’t in the 1/6th scale, but in the 1/12th scale. People that have already received their first Titanfall figure, the Atlas Titan, have been more than pleased with the results.
It’s been quite some time since Threezero released their Atlas Titan, but I think it’s good that they are taking their time to develop the figures to protection. The company is kind of taking a different approach than other manufacturers by showing very early prototypes, which is kind of angering some people, but in the end I think it’s a good thing so we can give feedback about the figures as they are being developed so ultimately we get exactly what we want.
Other companies, like Hot Toys, don’t announce the figures until they are basically 100% complete. This really cuts down on people complaining about prototypes they have seen in the past and questioning when they will be released, but there is always going to be complainers no matter what. We just need to be patient with Threezero because they are really trying hard and releasing affordable collectibles from some of the hippest licenses today.
I really think that Threezero needs to address this issue though, as many people have got excited about lines like The Walking Dead, but here we are almost 2 years later without seeing the next completed figures ready for release. They just keep announcing new licenses, seeming to many collectors that they have forgotten about completing the lines/licenses they have already started.
I know some people are getting really annoyed about the standard Threezero response when people ask questions – “Thank you for your interest in Threezero collectibles. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for further updates.”
