ThreeA Doctor Doom Sixth Scale Figure goes up October 31st

When ThreeA first announced they were making Marvel 12-inch figures, I was excited but at the same time I wasn’t sure that I could imagine what the figures would actually look like. Earlier this year they released 4 variants of The Invincible Iron Man, which if you don’t like the 3A style, you probably didn’t like the figures.

I was on the fence about getting Iron Man because I wasn’t that big of a fan about the design that I had to purchase it right then. I wanted to wait and see what other Marvel characters Ashley Wood would be giving his unique touch to. He’s already given away some clues that he would like to do many of the more well-known Marvel characters.

Doctor Doom is going to be the second figure released under the Marvel license and it looks pretty good. He’s got the amazing weathering pant job on his armor, a poseable cape, and even the huge feet that Iron Man was sporting. The figure has been seen a numerous toy shows around the world for the past year and now he’s going to be going up for pre-order on October 31st at 9AM Hong Kong time.

Similar to how the did Iron Man, Doctor Doom is going to be available in 3 different variants. You can get the classic version, the ghost edition, or the all black stealth edition. ThreeA usually has at least one variant of their figure as a Bambaland exclusive, but that information hasn’t quite been made available at this time.

With the release of Doctor Doom I think that I’m going to be forced to track down an Iron Man figure to add to my collection. I just hope that ThreeA is able to speed up the release of their future Marvel sixth scale figure because at this point it only seems like we are going to be getting 1 – 2 figures per year.

Comic based Marvel 12-inch figures have been my dream for quite a while and now I have the choice between ThreeA’s unique style and Sideshow Collectibles’ more accurate take on the characters. Or, perhaps I could just get both interpretations.

Pricing and final details about the Doctor Doom sixth scale figure haven’t quite been fully announced, but as we get closer to the pre-order date I would expect that we get updated with all the fine details.
