Skybound and McFarlane Toys have revealed their latest NYCC 2014 exclusive figure – The Walking Dead Comic Book Jesus. He Joins the ranks of Cloaked Michonne, Riot Gear Governor, Negan and Ezikel, all of which were exclusives previously.
Like other exclusives, he comes in a black and white bloody version and a colored clean version. I have not read the comics, though I have heard of the character and I have to say this is a really good representation of him.
The packaging looks fantastic for this figure, but I wish they would use this style of packaging for the regular comic book figures; the image of the character and the look they are based on the back card, rather than the generic one. The back of the card displays an image of the character from the comic, details of his accessories, and an ad for The Walking Dead Comic Book.
Both versions come with a bandanna/hat head, a head without a bandana, binoculars, spare bandanna, knife and rifle. I have to say the detail on both variants looks superb. He’s wearing a militaristic style outfit with his long green trench coat, combat pants and boots, with a bandoleer over his chest and hips. He’s also wearing gloves and a hoodie, which makes him look really unique, along with his long hair and facial hair. They both look exceptional and the paint job is brilliant on both.
It would be very hard for me to choose one, if I could I would get both.
He appears to have the same articulation as The Walking Dead Comic Book Series 3 articulation, which is great to see. The only hindrance I can see is the coat, though I don’t think it would be too much of a problem.
The accessories look very detailed, though we can’t see the knife in packaging so it must be hidden by the box art. The head sculpts look great but the one without a bandana is a little better, in my opinion, as the face sculpt looks better. The rifle is the one that has come with many of the TV and Comic Book Walking Dead figures and it appears to have the same strap as the TV ones. The binoculars are a great accessory to include and the extra bandanna adds variety to how you can display Jesus with it – around his neck or not with the Bandanna free head. I love how on the bloody version there’s blood on his binoculars and not just on the figure itself.

This figure looks superb and I would love to get though unfortunately I live in the UK so I won’t be able to get this without paying high shipping costs or scalper prices. If you’re a Walking Dead fan and you are going to be attending NYCC, I highly recommend that you get this figure.
