Take a Look Inside an Action Figure Factory
Boss Fight Studio recently sent out their newsletter, which featured a look inside of their Hong Kong action figure factory. The images featured below are just a few snapshots of certain stages process to make a complete action figure. The figures that are being produced in the images below are the final production pieces for the Marauder Task Force figures for Boss Fight’s friends Marauder, Inc.
This is a hopper that feeds plastic pellets into a machine that melts them and injects them into molds.
The fellow running the molds for the joint discs was clearly enjoying himself, as he’d posed an assembled figure atop a bag full of the parts and even created a custom sniper rifle for him out of straws!
Here’s a look at some of the feet and hands with the joint discs insert molded.
Hand-trimming parts from sprues and removing the mold flash.
Some of the tampo print stations where etched pads are used to print very specific and fine details on the figures.
Here’s some of the rubber pieces used to hold parts in place while they’re being tampo’d.
A great look at a painting station where skilled workers are applying fine details.
Bags full of finished and deco’d parts on their way to be assembled into full figures.
An assembly station where parts are put into a box with a heating lamp to make them softer and easier to snap together.
FEET!
This is awesome!
Awesome post. I wonder if the parts all getting thrown into a bag together can lead to paint defects, scratches, touch up spots, etc. that we sometimes see in finished product?
