The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Statue and Tippy-Toes to the Rescue!
Kotobukiya Just Released Deets on the Marvel Comics Squirrel Girl Bishoujo Statue
There’s a soft spot in my heart for Squirrel Girl, and it’s not just because she’s adorable! She’s determined, spunky and totally kicks ass, all while looking like a squirrel. Silliness abounds! Recently, Kotobukiya announced they’ll be releasing this imported figure from the beloved Japanese Bishoujo series in the US market, and I totally want it so bad! Let’s check it out:
How big is the 1/7 scale Squirrel Girl statue?
The 1/7 scale Squirrel Girl Bishoujo statue measures only 5.5” tall, but she’s kneeling so it looks bigger than it sounds. Squirrel Girl comes placed on a round base that looks like autumn leaves, kneeling and holding her trusty squirrel sidekick Tippy-Toes (who’s wearing a pink ribbon) on her left forearm.
What’s so distinct about the Bishoujo line?
Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo aesthetic is the iconic wide-eyed, porcelain skin, innocent-but-sexy, highly feminine character popularized in anime and manga for decades. The designer (Shunya Yamashita) recreated Squirrel Girls costume to the T, but gave her face the Bishoujo makeover, with huge green eyes and delicate features. I was happy to see they kept her buck-teeth though!
Doreen Green’s costume simply looks amazing on this statue. They went for the bomber-jacket and Docs Squirrel Girl instead of the furry leotard Squirrel Girl, which I normally prefer, but this outfit fits the whole “feel” of the figure. She’s wearing her squirrel-ear headband over her flippy orange hair and is rocking a cropped brown leather bomber jacket with a light tan color and lining. It looks to be blowing in the breeze or something, very cool!
Beneath the jacket, Squirrel Girl is wearing a light brown jumper, lined with white fur along the chest and leg holes, with a brown leather utility belt around her waist with giant pouches. Doreen is wearing army-green leggings and fur lined brown leather combat boots. Naturally, Squirrel Girl’s big bushy tail is realistically painted and almost as big as she is!
Though I love this whole figure, my favorite parts by far are her acorn earrings, and Tippy-Toes’ pink bow.
How much will the Squirrel Girl Bishoujo Statue cost?
You can pre-order her now from Entertainment Earth for $74.99, and can expect to receive the statue sometime in June-July 2017.
But wait! There’s more Squirrel Girl below! (Featured image courtesy of Marvel Comics, all other images property of Kotobukiya.)
