Sideshow Previews Remaining New TMNT Statues
It’s been a great time to be a TMNT fan. DreamEX is doing great work with sixth scale figures, and their Shredder, Casey Jones, and Krang figures are looking awesome. And, at the end of June, Sideshow Collectibles announced their new line of new TMNT statues, featuring a unique interpretation of the Turtles. They debuted the line with Leonardo, which makes sense as he’s the leader, and they’ve now revealed a preview for the Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Donatello statues that will be part of the line.
Details on the Statues
Sideshow hasn’t provided any details on the other statues yet, though we can guess at some of the details based off their Leo. The statues will likely be somewhere around 14 – 15 inches in height, including the base, and should be about 8 pounds in weight. The Leonardo statue went up for preorder for $349.99 (also the price for the exclusive version) and we expect the other three will have a similar, if not the same, price point. Leo is currently scheduled to ship between May – July next year, so we expect the rest will probably be available Q3 – Q4 2017 at the earliest.
The Look of the New TMNT Statues
If you find yourself fascinated with the look of the statues, you’re not alone. It’s definitely a unique look and gives them a much more “rough and tumble” feel. The look is inspired by the art of Paolo Riviera, which you can see displayed in a fine art print that Sideshow is also offering.
Though these new TMNT statues appear to be limited to the Turtles, I’d love to see some additional statues produced in this style. Imagine how gnarly shredder would look, or how crazy they could make Krang. I vote that Sideshow does a competing “villains” lineup, that features Shredder, Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady. Now that would be awesome.
Who else would you like to see in this style?
