SDCC 2015 Field Report: Hot Toys
Hot Toys had a massive display at San Diego Comic Con 2015, with a number of surprises. Taking up the most real estate in the booth? Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Wars.
Some of the highlights from Avengers: Age of Ultron figures? Captain America. The new figure of Chris Evans as Cap looks great. The figure holding the helmet is a nice touch.
One of the surprises of the booth was Maria Hill. Days before the show, Hot Toys released an image of all it’s Age of Ultron sixth scale figures. Eagle eyed denizens of Internetsland were quick to point of Maria Hill standing toward the edge of the photo. Well, sure enough, she was there at San Diego. She sports a fairly good likeness of Cobie Smulders. Can’t wait to see the official production pics.
Hot Toys also had a nice little diorama featuring the massive Hulkbuster and Hulk figures. That Hulkbuster looks sick! Hot Toys really crammed the detail into that figure.
The rest of the Avengers were on site, as well. Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Vision. You can check them out in our Hot Toys gallery.
Hot Toys also showed off it’s sixth scale figures from the upcoming Ant Man movie. While Ant Man looks cool and all, it appears that Yellow Jacket is the one that’s gonna easily steal that show.
And then there’s Star Wars.
Amongst all the assorted Stormtroopers there are some real winners. Like everyone’s favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
Another surprise from Hot Toys: Princes Leia from a New Hope. The likeness to Carrie Fisher is uncanny.
Speaking of Stormtroopers…there’s Luke as Stormtrooper. It looks like the same head sculpt as the other Luke from a New Hope being shown at the booth. Whether it stays or there’s a new head sculpt for that figure, remains to be seen.
Then there’s the Falcon cockpit. It looks like it’s pretty big, what with the sixth scale Han figure able to stand up at the entrance of the cockpit with PLENTY of head room. The cockpit even has LEDs in there. Still no retail, though.
And finally? Probably the biggest surprise of them all? The sixth scale Tie Fighter. Yes. You read that right: Sixth scale. That does mean a figure can theoretically fit into that cockpit. Details about the Tie Fighter are a bit light at the moment. But, as we hear more, we’ll be passing it along to you.
Editors Note: Sideshow says the Tie Fighter will be going on sale, however they can’t say what the price will be. I will be tracking someone from Hot Toys down to find out, and also to find out what the heck is going on with Drax.
There is much more to see. Head on over to our Hot Toys galleries to check out Marty McFly, Resident Evil figures, Terminator and more!
Before you click on out of here, don’t forget to check out the latest episode of the Almost Internet Famous Internet show. This week we’re talking to Sideshow Collectibles sculptor, Steve Schumacher!
