SDCC 2014: Rocket Raccoon Mini Bust joins Gentle Giants Exclusives

The latest Gentle Giant Exclusive is a Rocket Raccoon mini bust based on his appearance in the highly anticipated Guardians of The Galaxy film.

This statue is 4.7″ tall and is cast in polystone, is digitally sculpted, and hand painted. I make no shakes about it this is my favorite of the Gentle Giant SDCC Exclusive Mini Busts so far.

The Guardians are a diverse team and anthropomorphic foul-mouthed raccoon with penchant for heavy weaponry fits right in. He’s the tactician and marksman of the team. He’s a very useful team member fighting against the many threats The Guardians face.

I have to say this a phenomenal mini-bust, as it’s incredibly detailed. The fur looks outstanding and there’s a dry brush effect on it to really bring out the color of his fur. He has white fur hands, tips on the ears and on his face, which equally looks great as well as the pattern on his tail. I love the head sculpt with his black beady eyes and aggressive facial expression exposing his teeth and gums which are given a slight gloss which makes them look wet and real.

He’s wearing a sleeveless jumpsuit with some leather and black armor pieces on top and it looks amazing. You can see the pattern on the orange pieces on the jumpsuit and there’s some dirt painted on it too along with folds and creases. The leather parts look extraordinary the black armor beneath the leather pieces is matte black and you can see some stitching on the collar too. He’s also wearing a silver and bronze back piece with a blue orb, which is attached to the armor. There are also some rivets on the armor and outfit. It’s painted very well and there’s no slop at all.

The gun that he’s carrying looks very futuristic and has a brilliant sculpt and looks scuffed especially on the red part of the gun. There’s some great dry brushing on the tip of the barrel and scope, everywhere else on the gun has some light dry brushing on it.

This statue is individually numbered, comes with a certificate of authenticity, and will cost you $70. It will be available at the Gentle Giant Booth at San Diego Comic-Con (July 23-27). If you’re a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, you’ll definitely want to get this.
