The new Artist Mix Collection by Hot Toys is getting a really hard push from the Hong Kong based action figure manufacturer. They have already officially announced their Avengers: Age of Ultron Series 1, and now they are giving us a preview of what to expect in Series 2.
In the 3D rendered graphic below, you can see the famous Japanese toy artist Touma’s take on some new characters from Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster movie. Series 2 is going to feature Tony Stark in his Iron Man Mark XLIII suit, the Hulk, and Thor.
While it hasn’t exactly been confirmed, I don’t think these 3 new characters are all that will be part of the second series. Series 1 contained 6 figures, so we would hope that they at least do 6 more figures for Series 2.
Hot Toys has also released Touma’s illustration of the characters before they were made into figure form. You might be able to compare that illustration with what was already part of Series 1 to find out the remaining three characters for Series 2.
To many people’s surprise, the figures aren’t articulated, but instead they have a bobblehead. I would say that they are slightly more realistic versions of Funko’s extremely popular Pop! Vinyl or Wacky Wobbler lines, but with a price point that’s 4x bigger.
Pre-orders aren’t available for Series 2 just yet, but if you are interested in the style of the figures, Sideshow Collectibles currently has all of Series 1 available for pre-order. They are priced to sell at about $40 each.
