NECA ToyFair 2022- Night 2 Reveals

NECA’s weekend ToyFair reveals continue with more reveals from their biggest licenses and a surprise announcement. The reveals were

  • TMNT II Secret of The Ooze Turtle Four-Pack & Accessory Set
  • TMNT Mirage Comics Renet
  • Universal Monsters X TMNT Michaelangelo The Mummy
  • Defenders of The Earth Wave 2
  • Target month long Haulathon Event – March
  • Predator: Concrete Jungle – Stoneheart Predator
  • The Thing Dog Monsters

First I am going to start with their biggest announcement which was the reveal of the TMNT The Secret of The Ooze 4-Pack and Accessory set. It’s been known for some time that NECA will be doing Secret of The Ooze figures and they have teased it a few times themselves.

The figures and the accessory set were revealed on the Pixel Dan Youtube channel and he said that the four-pack and the accessory set will be exclusives to the NECA Store. They’ll be available to pre-order for two weeks from the 18th of March. It should be noted that the SOTO Turtles will be getting a re-release in two packs down the line and that they’ll be re-releasing Tokka and Rahzar again on the NECA store (sigh)

Personally, I’m going to try to get my hands on the accessory set and the Tokka & Rahzar and get the Turtles in the two-packs down the line. I haven’t watched Pixel Dan’s video yet but I’ll watch it soon to see what exactly you get with each, and I really do like the look of the accessory set. Sticking to the subject of TMNT NECA revealed their first Mirage Comics TMNT character from the original run called Renet. I am not familiar with her at all but I know some fans have said that her outfit is the wrong color and this is the color of the costume in the re-issues. Then NECA revealed the next TMNT X Universal Monster figure which is Michaelangelo The Mummy and I have to say he does look outstanding, I really love the details like the hieroglyphics on his shell and all the wrappings on him. I especially love the teeth and gums exposed head it looks particularly gruesome and it reminds me of the images that popped up showing the state of the original film’s suit, yikes! Hopefully, it won’t be tooling till this one is released in the year as I would love to get him and his brothers.

NECA also revealed that they’ll be collaborating with Target in mid-March for a month releasing exclusive products and signed editions which I am very curious about. My big concern is that I am based in the UK so it makes it near nigh impossible for me to have a chance to get them, I am really excited about this and hopefully some of the “exclusive figures” are “exclusive” for a limited time so it gives other fans a chance to get them and that they all don’t end up in the hands of scalpers. I am very excited to see the figures though.

Then with Toyark NECA revealed the next wave of The Defenders of The Earth figure and revealed their plans for the future of the line. The next wave consists of Lothar, Mandrake, and Garax. NECA has some plans for the line but it all has to do with how sales go and their partnership with King Publishing.

For some time NECA has been teasing the Stoneheart Predator who was the final boss in Predator: Concrete Jungle. As you can see he’s a lot larger than your average Predator. He does look very impressive and I would love for him to go against the Scar Predator on my display.

Then finally there was the reveal of two versions of the Dog Thing from John Carpenter’s The Thing and these figures look absolutely horrific and grotesque. They are still pending the licensor’s approval so no release date has been revealed yet or packaging. They would look great on display with the Station survival MacReady as he has the flamethrower to kill these things. These things look disgusting and I don’t doubt the other Thing’s will look equally disgusting and horrific!

Samuel is from the UK. He is an avid film fan and critic and a very passionate action figure collector. Basically he's a bit of a nerd. He collects mostly NECA, Mcfarlane's The Walking Dead line, Hasbro: Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends and some Play Arts Kai. He would love to collect even more high end figures someday. He also does digital art, collect films on Blu-Ray, and is a voice artist.
