At Toyfair earlier this year NECA revealed the Amphibian Man from The Shape of Water. At the time no accesssories or any real details were revealed. Now this past weekend NECA held a fan event in NJ they revealed the Amphibian Man on his diorama stand and just today NECA revealed the gallery for the upcoming release.
When I first saw pics of the figure at Toy Fair earlier this year I was in complete awe of the figure, it looked outstanding and now that NECA has shown the gallery this is on my must-haves of 2019 list. It’s a perfect recreation of the costume Doug Jones wore in the film. I particularly love the detailing and the paintwork is absolutely fantastic! The skin looks incredibly realistic and suitably amphibian and the blue highlights look incredible!
The Amphibian man stands 8″ tall and is fully articulated and comes with removable shackles, interchangeable hands, two interchangeable heads, a display base and a bowl of eggs. This figure comes with everything it needs and the base is the icing on the cake.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the packaging with similar artwork from the other Guillermo Del Toro collection by Mike Mignola, it’ll look stunning! If your a fan of the Shape of Water this is a must-have release. The Amphibian Man is expected to be released sometime later this year.
