NECA have been dropping quite a few teaser images and packaging images lately. Here’s a sneak peek round-up of what they have shown, but please keep in mind that some figures and packaging isn’t final.
NECA Ultimate Sarah Connor Progress
I’m loving NECA’s Ultimate line even though only one figure has been released as of yet. I’m really excited for the Ultimate Terminator 2 figures. The one I’m most excited about is Sarah Connor, as NECA have never produced a figure of her. The only ones that have are McFarlane and Hot Toys. They’ve been dropping teasers, first the vest and accessories (painted), and the latest one is of the unpainted sculpt of Sarah with some of her accessories, well from the back.
As you can see she’ll come with a pistol, knife w/sheath, assault rifle and a shotgun. I’m not sure if the armored vest is removable. One thing that is confirmed is that she’ll come with more than one interchangeable head. I really hope we get the down hair head from the finale of the film when she’s blasting the T-1000 with the shotgun. I can’t wait for the big reveal at SDCC.
NECA Alien Eggs Carton
NECA announced that they’ll be releasing an art carton for quite some time. Now NECA have revealed what it will look like. I am not disappointed. The packaging looks amazing I must say and I love the usage of Not Fit For Human Consumption. As you can see some are open and some are closed. In the open ones they’ll be Facehuggers with bendable tails. I have to get a few of these as they look amazing and are perfect for dioramas. They are to be released in September of this year.
NECA 78 1/4 scale Superman Box
I know many fans are really exited for the NECA’s 1/4 scale Superman figure with Christopher Reed’s likeness. As you can see they have utilized the Fortress of Solitude very well for the packaging. It really captures the vibe of the film. If you’re a Superman fan he’ll be released at the end of the month.
NECA Terminator Genisys Packaging
As you know Terminator: Genisys will be released soon and the feelings are mixed on it, which is not the same case for NECA’s Terminator Genisys figures. They look fantastic, much like their other Terminator figures, with added articulation. As you can see the packaging depicts a future battle scene in Terminator vision, which looks really cool. They are using the new box style packaging, which they have used for their Classic Planet of The Apes line and the Robocop vs Terminator line. I can’t wait to get these figures.
NECA Predator Light Up Wrist Control Panel
This is a bit of a conundrum. In their tweet with this teaser image it says:
Working on something new for #prednesday but what exactly? SDCC is a month away
I reckon it’s an ultimate Jungle Hunter Predator as other fans have been speculating if they’ll do an ultimate version of Jungle Hunter. It makes sense with the flip open panel now being implemented with the AVP Predators. All will be revealed at SDCC.
NECA Classic Planet of The Apes Galen
NECA love their Planet of The Apes line, which is unfortunately running into sales trouble. Hence why Series 3 will be solely available at conventions and some retailers in a three pack. For the time being the line continues ( I hope it continues), so NECA have given a teaser for Series 4 with a Galen head sculpt. Galen appeared in the TV series. As of yet, NECA are unsure if this figure will be released at all.
NECA Retro Jason Lives & Pamela Voorhees Art
I love NECA’s retro figures and I am really excited for the Friday The 13th Part 6 Jason Lives figure. Sometime ago NECA revealed a work in progress picture of the artwork and now they have revealed the completed picture and it looks incredible. It perfectly captures the 80’s film poster vibe, which I absolutely love.
I love all the little details that the artist Jason Edmiston has put into this piece it looks absolutely incredible. It looks great on card and you can see all his accessories too; the metal fence post, knife and machete which both have sheaths on his belt and his removable hockey mask. I can’t wait to get this one.
I’ll need to find a way to stick all these retro art cards on the wall in a frame; I love them. Also here’s a little extra though it does come with some sad news.
As some of you may know Betsy Palmer who played Pamela Voorhees in the original Friday The 13th died recently at the age of 88. In tribute to her, NECA revealed the artwork for the upcoming SDCC exclusive Pamela and Young Jason Voorhees two pack. It looks just as good as the Jason Part 6 one figure!
I would love to get my hands on the SDCC exclusive even though I am in the UK. I’m definitely getting the Jason, which comes out later this month/early next month.
Freddy Krueger Ultimate and DMC Dante Ultimate make it two figures to be released so far in the Ultimate line.
