NECA Prometheus Series 1 Engineer Pressure Suit Figure Review

As promised yesterday, today I am going to be doing the NECA Prometheus Series 1 Engineer Pressure Suit Figure Review! This guy should be making it to stores in your area very soon if not already.

In case you missed the Review yesterday of the Engineer in the Chair Suit you can view that here.

Packaging

The packaging is pretty much the same as the other Engineer figure in series 1. The front of the background reads Prometheus and behind the figure, there is the door where all the dead Engineers laid in front of the closed-door. Pretty boring packaging but the figure is shown nicely in the signature NECA clamshell packaging.

On the back of the package you see “Prometheus” again on the top and in the middle you get some art of the Engineer and some movie scenes in the triangles above him. Toward the bottom of the card, you get a quick summary of the movie and the director. It is the same text as the other Engineer’s packaging.

As said before, pretty boring packages but I am not going to cry about it because I opened him anyway.

Out of The Box

Out of the box the figure looks pretty great. He is a little heavy but is made very solid. He has some very nice details and to me looks like an exoskeleton. The sculpting is completely different from the other Engineer figure.

While this figure also comes with no accessories he does stand just about 8″ tall. He is lacking in the articulation area which I will get into below.

Articulation

Articulation is pretty much the only place where the figure is lacking. He has a ball joint neck, ball joint shoulders, swivel/hinge elbows, and ball joint wrists. This figure also has a ball joint torso, ball joint hips, swivel/hinge knees, and pivot ankles.
His head movies a 360 degree turn and can move slightly up and down. With this guy, you can move his legs forward but you have to turn his hips a weird direction and looks unnatural when done. This Engineer’s pivot ankles work a little bit better than the other Engineer.
While his articulation is better than the other figure in most areas it sill is nothing spectacular and was kind of a let down.

Paint

The two Engineers are complete opposites of each other (white and black). This figure’s paint job is awesome. It looks like ivory or bone. He almost looks like a skeleton. The darker paint is done very nicely and I have found no problems or mistakes. His hands are head are not painted with the darker grey color and they defiantly stand out. It still looks ok but just look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.

His eyes are done perfectly. They almost look like real eyes!

Sculpt

As with the other Engineer figure NECA killed the sculpt. It looks amazing. Every part of the figure is detailed from the veins on the hands to the highly detailed chest piece.

Both of the figures are more of “art” figures to me. Since they are lacking good articulation they are more of display pieces. If you are a fan on the movie you are going to want to pick up this figure but don’t expect much in terms of articulation.
