Official Images Released of NECA Pacific Rim Ultra Deluxe Otachi
During SDCC 2014 this year, NECA showed off the Ultra Deluxe Otachi figure from the Pacific Rim movie. It definitely wowed a lot of people at the NECA booth and now NECA has released more official images and given a release date for this figure: January 2015.
This figure measures 18″ in length and is in scale with the standard 7″ Pacific Rim figures that are currently available. I have to say this figure looks really impressive with a great amount of detail and texture for such a large figure.
I really love the spine and tail; they almost look bone like in appearance. I really like how the claws are done too. The head sculpt looks outstanding. The eyes and that facial expression it look very menacing and imposing. Blue is used very well on this figure. Most prominently on his tail, spine, chest (where he produces the acid) and mouth which I really dig. It looks very glossy and bright inside the mouth, which makes it look almost like it’s wet. They have not spared any detail on the figure; it’s all there. The folded wings look fantastic too and I love the leathery look to the dark blue areas of the wing parts.
Otachi features over 30 points of articulation, which looks really well hidden on this figure. Though I don’t think there are elbow joints in her large arms with the folded wings. He also comes with some accessories. His tongue is removable and interchangeable with an acid spitting effect. Also it’s not seen but has been confirmed by NECA that she’ll come with a baby Kaiju. It would be nice if she came with some interchangeable arms with the wings expanded but that may have pushed up the price further than it already is.
Otachi will cost you around $65 and will be released next January and is only going to have one single production run. So if you’re a big fan of Pacific Rim fan this figure is simply a must have, though you better pre-order her quick before she’s released, otherwise you may not be able to get her for your Pacific Rim collection.
Now all we need is a Ron Pearlman figure to feed to it
Otachi is a she and not a he, but that aside, does anyone know the true date of release? Says here January, but I’ve also seen it posted as March and April -sigh- I don’t know what is correct. The January date is already a push back from November 2014.
