NECA Monster MAYhem 2022 has begun!

Like last year NECA hosted their first Monster MAYhem event and now they are continuing the tradition for 2022. Their first reveal was the packaging for the Universal Monsters X TMNT April O’Neil as The Bride of Frankenstein which uses the likeness of Judith Hoag’s April. Then last night NECA revealed an upcoming figure of another Universal Monsters icon The Invisible Man!

I think that the Bride uses the likeness of Judith Hoag’s live-action April as the turtles don’t look to be based on their live-action counterparts (except Mikey) But I think she will look great with the other figures in the line. I really like the accessories that she comes with including a TV/Radio electric pylon, removable coat, two experimented rats, a spider, a handbag, Raph’s Sai, interchangeable hands, and a head.

The likeness to Judith Hoag is just as good as in the movie April figures. I really like the details in this figure with the bandage wraps and the lifts in her shoes which is a homage to Karloff’s monster. Of course, I really like the white streak in her on both heads it does look great! The experimented rats look gross and the pylon/microphone looks very unique.

The only thing that I feel is missing is a screaming head as both of these heads look very similar to each other. Also, it should be noted that this figure will have a signature edition which will come with a signed art card by Judith Hoag and the art on the card is the same as the packaging which does look great. There’s also a standard edition too but it’s not clear if the figure is a NECA Store exclusive or not. I reckon it isn’t (the standard edition) and will be available at some point.

Next up was the reveal of Universal Monsters The Invisible Man which I am a big fan of the film. I knew we would get an Invisible Man at some point and I didn’t expect to see him so soon. The teaser shows him in a suit which he does wear in the film at some points. It looks like he’ll come with the formula, a book, a fake nose, goggles, and a hairpiece. I am hoping he’ll come with an interchangeable head with none of the hair poking through and hopefully we’ll see a version with the nightgown. More details will be revealed and I am very excited to see what the other reveals are during this month-long event!
