NECA John Carpenter’s The Thing Ultimate MacReady Revealed

Man is the warmest place to hide.

Just earlier today NECA revealed a real surprise. Today is Kurt Russell’s 70th birthday and to celebrate his birthday NECA revealed a figure of one of his most iconic roles MacReady from John Carpenter’s The Thing. The Thing has always been trouble due to the license difficulties.

For years fans have been wishing to see action figures from the film and all we’ve gotten before this was some of the monsters from McFarlane Toys and a MacReady and Dog set from SOTA Toys. The Pop Culture Shock had the license and nothing came of it. NECA has been a dream license holder for John Carpenter’s The Thing and if you remember I wrote an article on it a few months back of what I would imagine a MacReady Ultimate figure to be like.

Overall I think the figure looks absolutely excellent and the likeness to Kurt Russell looks fantastic. I couldn’t be happier with how this figure looks and I love all the accessories that they’ve announced will be coming with the figure. The removable glasses, hat, and goggles are a great touch.

The image that NECA has shown off looks to be the back of the Ultimate figure packaging. At the bottom of the packaging, it says the figure comes with three interchangeable heads, hat, goggles, glasses, bottle, lantern, shotgun, and more. I could see the figure also comes with a flamethrower and some dynamite. Though they may be saving that for another release also I’m very curious to know what other plans NECA has for the license.

Also, I wonder if NECA has the rights to another John Carpenter cult classic film that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and also stars Kurt Russell…

Undoubtedly I am very excited about this figure as I absolutely love the film and I’m a big Kurt Russell fan so this is definitely on my must-have list!

He collects mostly NECA, Mcfarlane's The Walking Dead line, Hasbro: Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends and some Play Arts Kai. He would love to collect even more high end figures someday. He also does digital art, collect films on Blu-Ray, and is a voice artist.
