NECA have revealed something really special for their Planet of the Apes line – the greatest ape of all time. The Classic Planet of the Apes Lawgiver statue first appeared in the classic 1968 Planet of the Apes film and is now about to appear in collections around the world.
The Lawgiver is an orangutan legend and very important character in Planet of the Apes lore. His writings and quotes form the basis of the Apes customs and laws. He appears as a living character in Battle of the Planet of the Apes; in the original film we only see him as a statue.
This statue is 12-inches tall and is in scale with the Classic Planet of the Apes 7-inch figures that are already available. It’s cast in resin and hand painted, making the perfect companion piece for your POTA action figures.
I have to say it looks incredible the detail is phenomenal throughout. From the scrolls at his feet to the hair on his head it looks marvelous. I love the calm and controlled look on his face. The color work looks beautiful and it makes the statue look well-worn, especially with the light brown wash over it.
If you’re a Planet of The Apes fan, this statue is a must have He’ll look great standing on display with your NECA Classic Planet of The Apes figures, especially Dr. Zaius. He’ll look even better behind Dr. Zaius and some ape soldiers.
He’s limited to a single production run and will be available in February for an SRP of $60. Pre-orders are currently available here for $5 off the SRP.
