NECA Alien Series 5 Update

NECA Alien S5 RipleyNECA’s Alien line continues to grow just like their Predator line. It’s been a while since Series 3 hit the shelves and Series 4 will be on the shelves in coming days. Now NECA have revealed final product images of the hotly anticipated Alien Series 5.

As you can see the main focus of this series is Aliens. Whereas Series 4’s focus was on Alien. In this series we’ll be getting Ripley from the finale of the film, Bishop from when he ‘encountered’ the Alien Queen, and the Alien Genocide Black and Red Xenomorph Warriors.

I’m really excited to get Ripley (much as I am with the Series 4 version). I have to say they have done a fantastic job on her. In my personal opinion they have done an excellent job in capturing Weaver’s likeness. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough for me with the facial structure and expression; I can see Weaver there. They have given her the short hair cut that she had in the film and it looks really good, as hair can be a hard thing to capture in figure form.

They have her costume exact with the white t-shirt, jump suit pants and the iconic red sneakers. As this figure is based on the finale of the film, she’s armed and ready to take on the Queen and her hive. She’s got straps over her top with grenades for the Pulse rifle, along with a bandoleer with more grenades, which is a removable piece. The most important accessory is the Pulse Rifle/Flame Thrower gun, which she created by duck taping the weapons together. It’s unclear how articulated she’ll be but I am guessing she’ll have the standard articulation that NECA figures has these days.

I still need to pick up Bishop from Series 3 and I’ll be picking this version up to. This one is different from the original, as this one is from his encounter with the Alien Queen where she impaled and sliced him in half with his synthetic guts spilling out!

They have given this figure of Bishop a new head sculpt, which is fantastic, and the likeness to Lance Henriksen is just as good as it was on the Series 3 figure. Where this figure differs is that we only get half of him. I have to say they have done a brilliant job of recreating how Bishop looked after he was torn in half. He’s covered in all the milky synthetic fluid of where all his tubing has burst. I love how they have sculpted the broken tubes exposing some of the synthetic body; it’s very well done. He’ll look fantastic with the Alien Queen and Ripley in the Power Loader (when that is released). He’ll have all the same upper body articulation that the Series 3 figure had.

He’ll also come with some accessories, which are an open Alien egg and a Facehugger with a bendy tail. This is a taster as to what we’ll be getting later this summer with NECA’s Alien Egg cartons! I can’t wait to put those on display with the rest of my figures.

The final figure is NECA’s Alien Genocide Xenomorph Warriors which is a sort of re-release of the much sought after Alien Genocide Two Pack. These are the exact same figures that were released in that set but now they are sold separately. If you missed out on that set and wanted it, it’s a must have.

Series 5 will be released in August of this year and honestly I cannot wait for them. If you’re a fan of NECA’s Aliens line, this series is a must have for all fans. Pre-orders are currently available here.

Bryan first discovered an appreciation for action figures at an early age, setting up elaborate GI Joe ant hill attacks, complete with firework pyrotechnics. Due to the high injury rate for the Joes, replacements were a constant necessity.

  1. These look awesome, but is the half a Bishop going to be a full price figure? It seems like they should cut the price for the small figure.
