Mondo Reveals TMNT First Turtle Action Figure

Mondo have revealed their TMNT First Turtle figure and have put it up for pre-order. In 1983, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were doodling on napkins, playing around with an idea that initially began as a joke. Little did they know what started as a sketch, would turn into the pop culture phenomena known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This figure is a vinyl figure and it has five points of articulation. They have also created variants of the figure to suit fans different tastes. The variants are:

The First Turtle Figure (B&W Version) – $65
This version features an all black and white paint scheme based on the original pen and napkin illustration.

The First Turtle Figure (Color Version with Red Mask) – $65
This version features a color paint scheme with a red mask.

The First Turtle Figure (Color Version with Orange Mask) – $65
This version features a color paint scheme with an orange mask.

The First Turtle Figure (Deluxe B&W Version) – $100
This deluxe version features an all Black & White paint scheme, imitating the original pen and napkin illustration, and includes 3 interchangeable heads with different mask colors – white, red, and orange. This version also includes a 5″ x 7″ letterpress print of the original Kevin Eastman art.

I have to say I really like the looks of these vinyl figures, especially the color versions. I really love the sketched look to these figures and the paint jobs are fantastic too.

I should note that they’ll be released this year in winter. If you’re a fan of the original TMNT comics, or a fan of TMNT, I would highly recommend this figure.

Bryan first discovered an appreciation for action figures at an early age, setting up elaborate GI Joe ant hill attacks, complete with firework pyrotechnics. Due to the high injury rate for the Joes, replacements were a constant necessity.
