MIB/MOC vs Loose | What to Collect?

How should you collect your action figures? Mint on card (MOC)/Mint in box (MIB) or loose? This is going to be a personal preference. Some people like to collect MIB/MOC and keep them like that forever. Never ever opening them. Others love to open their action figures and play with them or even display them without packages.

Reasons for MIB/MOC

There can be many reasons for why someone will keep their action figures MIB/MOC. Some people just like the way the packages look. Many action figures made today are highly detailed on the figures but also are in detailed packages. Others like to keep them MIB/MOC because action figures are worth way more when they are in original packages. They better the condition the packages the better the price will be if you ever decide to resell your action figures.

MIB/MOC toys will take up way more space in your house if you decide to store them this way. MIB/MOC vehicles will take up a lot more space because the boxes are way bigger than most action figure boxes. One benefit to MIB/MOC is that they stack easily but you must be careful to not dent the packages, if not your toys will lose value quickly. They easy stacking would be especially beneficial if you have a larger collection.

Loose Figures

Loose figures will allow you to take they out of the package and “play” with them if you will. You can put your figures in different poses and post them online on blogs or forums. They will take up way less space for storage space. The downside to loose figures is that they lose their values very fast .

MIB and MOC vs loose – My Choice

I prefer to collect both MIB/MOC and loose toys. Some action figure series I just think that they look better in their packaging. Sometimes I will even buy 2 of one figure so that I can open one and “play” with it and they other I will leave in mint packaging.

If you want to get the most out of toy and action figure collecting as a hobby then I would recommend that you take your action figures out of the packaging. I believe that the hobby is just much more enjoyable when they are removed from the package and set free.

I love the look of some toys out of the box because they are like a work of art now a days. Acton figures are becoming more and more detailed. They also make great decoration if that is what you are into.

If you are just starting out then maybe the middle of the line would be a good place to start. Buy some action figures to open and keep some MIB/MOC and see what you prefer.
