Mega G.I. Joe Classified Series SDCC 2023 Reveals.
During SDCC last weekend Hasbro went all out with G.I. Joe Classified Series with tons of reveals & pre-orders during the event. It was quite overwhelming with all the reveals coming in quick succession. I have no pictures from the event itself as I wasn’t there so I’ll be using pictures that Hasbro has officially released. I’ll start with the digital rendering reveals.
On Saturday Hasbro held a G.I. Joe panel and revealed a number of exciting products in the G.I. Joe Classified Series line. Here’s a list of those reveals:
- Python Patrol Copperhead
- Python Patrol Cobra Officer
- Dreadnok Buzzer
- Dreadnok Ripper
- Shockwave
- Helix
- Hawk
- Vamp & Clutch
- SMS & Techno Viper
I personally was very impressed with these reveals with a lot of exciting new figures in the lineup. It’s nice to see more Dreadnoks so that we can build up that team within Cobra and both Buzzer and Ripper look very unique. I love the punk look to them and their very unique weapons which look like they have come from the world of Mad Max.
I’m very impressed with Shockwave, Helix, and Hawk. I love the riot officer look to Shockwave and he would look great going against some Alley Vipers. I know that Helix is a more modern Joe character and her outfit makes her stand out from the other female Joe’s and the arm blade weapons look very unique, that’s definitely how I’ll be displaying her.
Hawk looks excellent. I love the aviator jacket and the aged classic look to his head sculpt with the streaks of grey in his hair. I haven’t got any of the mainline vehicles as the bikes didn’t really interest me and the H.I.S.S. Tank & Dragonfly were too expensive for me at the time and I think it’s a better idea to start with the smaller vehicles and make my way up to the bigger ones. Clutch and Vamp look excellent. That’s exactly the sort of vehicle that I am after and I cannot wait for it to go up. It comes with so many accessories both for Clutch and Vamp itself.
The SMS & Techno Viper looks excellent but a bit useless for me as I don’t have any air vehicles for it to go against, but is an excellent-looking set which I cannot deny.
They had a handful of name-only reveals which were very exciting and they are:
- Retro Duke
- Retro Scarlett
- Jinx
- Torch
I’m aware of what Retro Duke & Scarlett would look like and I am very excited about those and I am very keen to see how Jinx would look in the Classified line and Torch is another member of the Dreadnoks and I know he’ll have a very unique look to him.
Surprisingly just after SDCC, they put up some brand new figures for pre-order which they had on display in the booth. They are:
- H.I.S.S. 788 Fire Team
- Steel Corp Trooper Two-Pack
- Tripwire, Apsara & M.A.C.L.E.O.D. Deluxe Set
- Tiger Patrol Flint
- Python Patrol Vypra
All of these are still up for pre-order on Hasbro Pulse and other retailers here in the UK. I really love the army building 788 Fire Team & Steel Corp Trooper sets as they contain some excellent-looking figures with a lot of weaponry and effects pieces which are always a great plus. Hopefully, these will be available for a while as I would love to get these.
The Tripwire Deluxe set really interests me as he has a very interesting role in the Joe team and I really love all the bomb disposal equipment that he comes with including interchangeable protective vests and helmets, mine detector, Apsara & M.A.C.L.E.O.D. which comes with a remote control. I’d definitely be interested in getting this set on my shelf.
The Tiger Patrol Flint & Python Patrol Vypra were very interesting to see. Especially Vypra as she was new and hadn’t been in the line before. The Flint looks very good but I am more than happy with the standard versions that I have got. Vypra looks very good at re-using parts of other figures, though this does make her stand out. I really love the skull mask and the re-use of Storm Shadows weapons and the colors really pop.
Also on display, they had the Hasbro Pulse Con Exclusive Crimson Strike team which consists of The Baroness & Tomax & Xamot in red with plenty of accessories including gold briefcases, interchangeable heads and glasses for the Baroness, and a whole assortment of weapons. As a preview, they had Mutt & Junkyard on display and they looked fantastic with plenty of accessories for Mutt and an interchangeable head for Junkyard. Hopefully, it won’t be too long till they are up for pre-order.
Overall I am extremely happy with all the reveals from SDCC and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Hasbro Pulse Con in September.
