During the weekend DC held their DCFandome event and they showed the trailer for Matt Reeve’s Batman film which looks absolutely fantastic. Of course to tie in with the reveal of the new trailer McFarlane Toys showed off The Batman wave. I have to say for the most part that they look really good especially Batman and Catwoman. The Riddler not so much I think that’s more of the character’s design which doesn’t translate into action figure form that well.
The texturing on the outfits looks great and I don’t doubt that we would see unmasked versions of Batman and Catwoman maybe with a figure of Penguin in the next wave. From the promo picture, it looks like Catwoman’s whip is coiled so I wonder if there is a bendy wire in the whip. Batman comes with a grapple gun which seems to be a staple of the Batman figures by McFarlane and I am surprised that he doesn’t come with a Batarang. Riddler comes with some sort of ice pick which I don’t think we have seen him use in the trailer.
One thing I do really love is that we are getting a Batcycle for Batman and it looks great and looks very much looks like how it does in the film. Of course, Batman fits on it very well.
These figures are scheduled to be released next year before the film gets released in March next year and are available to pre-order from all good retailers now.
That new bike looks real cool. Catwoman and Riddler kind of looks too normal. Shame that they seem to be going backwards in terms of design to be more “realistic”. They don’t get that the reason many people get into comics is to get away from reality and to immerse in some fantastic and colorful characters.
