McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse, The Return of Movie Maniacs & Spawn Reveals.

Last week McFarlane Toys held a Winter Showcase and revealed a host of new products from some of their biggest licenses.

On the first day, they revealed their revival of the Movie Maniacs brand which isn’t exactly the same as the old line which mainly focused on horror and sci-fi characters. McFarlane has said that this will be the first wave and shows they have plans for more and the first wave entirely consists of Warner Bros characters. The wave contains Harry Potter from The Harry Potter films, The Wicked Witch of The West from The Wizard of Oz, Ted Lasso from the Ted Lasso series on Apple, and Bugs Bunny. I know that McFarlane has a good working relationship with Warner Bros so I could see them doing this and I would be very curious to see what other properties feature in the second wave, I am guessing that we could see some Spawn and Mortal Kombat characters in this line as well.

Just like the Movie Maniacs of old these figures have very limited articulation and are more like statues. They come with themed diorama bases and a background diorama card as well as an artcard and a secret bonus surprise which no one knows what that will be. Also, they will be limited editions to 10,000 which I think is to celebrate Warner Brothers’ 100th anniversary.

On the next day, they revealed three new Spawn figures which were Medieval Spawn, Sinn, and Monolith. All these figures look excellent as well, I am really impressed with Sinn and I love the worn metallic look to his armor. Also, it’s really nice to get some snazzy effect pieces too. I am not familiar with Monolith at all, but I really like his unique and bulky look. He’ll definitely look very imposing on a Spawn shelf. I really like the look of Medieval Spawn, all the armor and chains look awesome. The texture work on his armor looks incredible. My only fault with this figure I can find is that his weapons don’t have any paint details on them, also what happened to that Kickstarter Medieval Spawn that Todd was talking about some time ago?

For the DC Multiverse line, there was a smorgasbord of reveals to keep everyone happy. Here’s a list of those reveals:

  • Robin Reborn Tim Drake Robin
  • Knightfall Batman
  • Reign Of The Supermen Steel
  • Hush Superman
  • The Flash: Flash & Batman Statues
  • The Flash Batmobile

I know most of the reveals were Batman related but I was really impressed with the array of figures they showed off, I know most other DC Fans are really happy with these especially Knightfall Batman which looks excellent! The Tim Drake Robin looks excellent as well and I really like the look of Steel as well.

Though what really stood out to me was The Flash reveals, the statues look pretty good and give me a good idea of what the figures when they are fully revealed and I know they have teased a look of The Flash figure. What I was really impressed with though is the Batmobile which looks superb and a must-have for me, I know it’s a teaser but I am really excited for it to see what features it has and if it comes with a Batman figure, I do wonder if we’ll see it again remolded for its appearance in the 89 film when they reveal those figure as well. What I really want this for is to stand beside my NECA 7″ Batman 89 figure.
