McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse The Dark Knight Returns Wave.

About two weeks or so ago McFarlane Toys revealed an image of an upcoming The Dark Knight Returns wave based on Frank Miller’s & Klaus Janson’s seminal The Dark Knight Return comic book. Many companies river the years have done figures from this comic including Mattell and DC Collectibles and now that McFarlane Toys has the rights to release figures based on DC Comic books and films it was only a matter of time before they got round to The Dark Knight Returns.

We are also getting a TDKR Armored Batman as well from the latter half of the story and that was revealed a while ago, now they are revealing the full-wave which consists of Batman, Robin, Superman, and the Joker. The build-a-figure for this wave is the horse that Batman rides in the comic which is a great touch.

The figures look very much like their comic book counterparts and they do look a bit stylized but there’s nothing wrong with that. I personally really like the look of these. I have only a few of the DC Multiverse figures in my collection at the moment and I have to say I am quite a fan of them.

The only problem that I have with these figures is the DC no guns mandate on their figures as Joker uses a gun quite prominently in the book and at one point Batman used a pistol in this outfit and when he was wearing a blue outfit earlier in the story he uses a rifle. I will be very curious to see what accessories they’ll come with when they are released. I do expect we might see more figures such as an unmasked Batman, Blue Suit, and maybe some of the other characters as well that would be great. No word yet on how they will ve released but I do expect to hear something soon.
