Today I have yet another Marvel Universe figure for review. Join me as we venture into the Marvel Universe with the Marvel Universe Psylocke Figure Review!
Other figures from this wave (wave 17) are Iron Fist, Shadowland Daredevil, Storm, Marvel’s Patriot, and Ages of Thunder Thor.
Packaging
The packaging is some of my favorite packaging currently on the market for action figures. It features some personalized art and shows off the figure nicely in the blister card packaging. You can see the accessories and “collectible comic shot” as well.
On the back of the card, you can see some more art with Psylocke in a pose along with a short bio for her. On the left side, you can see some of the other figures from the same wave. Collect them all!
The packaging is very appealing MOC collectors.
Out of The Box
Out of the box, Psylocke feels pretty good. My eyes were directed straight to the terrible paint job, though. There are smudges and mistakes particularly around the bands on her upper arms and legs. With my figure, you can even see come glue sticking out of her hair around her face.
The funniest thing about this figure though is that she comes with 2 accessories. Not funny right? Well, the purple translucent katana that she comes with she can’t even hold onto because her hand grip is not near tight enough. She also comes with a translucent clip on energy attachment. On and don’t forget the completely awesome “collectible comic shot”.
Articulation
Articulation for this figure is not that bad. She has
- Ball joint neck
- Swivel/hinge shoulders
- Single hinge elbow
- Swivel wrists
- Ball joint torso
- Swivel waist
- Ball joint hips
- Double joint knees
- Hinge ankles
Most of the articulation works, pretty well except for the head and her left leg. Her head is obviously going to be restricted by her hair. Her left leg appears to have a bigger sculpt on the top of the thigh and doesn’t quite bend up how I would like it to. Everything else works fine and the torso joint works notably well.
Paint
Paint on Psylocke has some flaws as I pointed out earlier. The bands on her arms and legs are the main areas you are going to want to watch out for. I am not really too big of a fan of the orange eyes. They give here a very evil look. The hair looks fantastic. It is black with nicely done purple highlights.
If the bands on the arms and legs looked sharper I wouldn’t really have much to complain about here.
Sculpt
The sculpt is a complete repaint of the Dark Phoenix from the Greatest Battle pack. It looks good for the most part, though. I wish Hasbro would have at least sculpted her hand so that she could use the accessory that she came with, though. That is ridiculous.
If you can resist this figure then I would recommend that you do. You won’t be missing much except a repaint that can’t use her accessories.
