Just this Thursday Hasbro revealed the line-up for the Marvel Legends Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness wave which is a mix of MCU and comic figures. I have to say I am very impressed with the line-up and this is our first look at some of the character costumes from the film. Not only have they shown the wave but also a Target exclusive figure as well.
The wave consists of Doctor Strange, Astral Form Doctor Strange, Wong, Master Mordo, America Chavez, Sleepwalker, and D’sypare. The BAF of this wave is Rintrah who I am guessing is an MCU figure by the look of his costume. The Target exclusive figure is a Defender version of MCU Doctor Strange with the sling ring teleporting effect and it looks absolutely amazing!
I like how that Doctor Strange is wearing a different costume from No Way Home what with a different belt with more decorations on it and a pattern on his chest which is very similar to his classic look in the comics as well as the eye of Agamotto being much closer to the neckline like it’s part of the cape. Also, the cape has a different sculpt to it and he has a different head as well. I love that he comes with a multitude of interchangeable hands including one using the sling ring which would work perfectly with the effect piece that comes with the Defender Doctor Strange.
Next up is the Astral Form Doctor Strange which has a slight translucent effect on the figure, especially on the lower half. It looks to be using the same head as the normal version and I am curious to know more about the magic lamp that he comes with. At long last, we get a figure of Wong and he looks incredible! The sculpt is perfect and the likeness to Benedict Wong is amazing. I love the costume and all the accessories including the magic effect hands which we see Strange come with as well as a sword and another pair of interchangeable hands. Then we are getting a figure of Master Mordo with a great likeness to Chiwetel Ejiofor. It’s a big improvement over the Mordo figure that was released in the first Doctor Strange wave as that was before the face printing tech was used. I really do like his costume and I love all the accessories he comes with as well especially the crossbow.
The only other MCU figure in the wave is America Chavez who will appear in the film. I don’t know too much about her but I do know in her universe she becomes Captain America and I remember her being playable in the Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 videogame, This figure doesn’t come with all that many accessories but I do love the design of her denim jacket. I don’t know all that much about Sleepwalker and D’yspare but I do love their designs especially Sleepwalker. They both have unique capes too.
Also, another figure that has gone up for pre-order outside of these Doctor Strange figures is a deluxe release of Ragnarok a villainous cyborg version of Thor! He looks to be using the same body sculpt as the 80th Anniversary version with a brand new head and some different accessories.
All these figures are scheduled to be released around Spring next year before the film is released in May.
