LEGO Debuts Largest-Ever Collection of Building Sets at 2015 American International Toy Fair

More than 300 new building sets will inspire hands-on creative learning among builders of any ability and interest.

LEGO Systems, Inc. debuts its largest collection of new building sets ever—313 new products—at the American International Toy Fair. Among the new offerings is LEGO® Classic – a collection of basic bricks and special elements designed to inspire and encourage open-ended and creative building fun. LEGO Systems will showcase new products in booth #1651 in Hall 3B of New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from February 14-17.

“Our primary goal is two-fold: to find ways to inspire children to either discover the engaging fun of building with LEGO bricks if they never have, or to continue building if they’re already fans,” said Soren Torp Laursen, president, LEGO Systems. “In addition to new sets from The LEGO Movie, LEGO Friends and Ninjago, we introduce LEGO Classic – the open-ended building fun that today’s parents remember from their childhood – and new themes such as LEGO Elves and LEGO Pirates, while adding popular licenses like Scooby Doo and bringing back a tried and true fan favorite – BIONICLE. Children always surprise and delight us with their creations and what we’ve created for them will provide the inspiration, elements, characters and stories to make 2015 an exciting year of building fun.”

Younger Builders (Ages 1 1/2+)
LEGO DUPLO®, with bricks two times the size of a classic LEGO brick, introduces children as young as 18 months to the world of LEGO building. Twenty-four new DUPLO sets include classic themes such as My First Farm, Airport and My First ABC, along with favorite licensed themes and characters including Disney Princess characters, Disney•Pixar’s Cars and Disney’s Jake and the Never Land Pirates.  New theme additions this year include Disney’s Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First. Sets range from $9.99 to $49.99.

LEGO Juniors is back and tailor-made for builders four and older who are starting to build with classic LEGO bricks, featuring modular bricks, such as walls and archways, plus step-by-step instructions to help young builders gain confidence as they get started. Iconic themes provide a relevant and fun age-appropriate building experience with sets including Pirate Treasure Hunt, Fire Suitcase, Tow Truck and Family House. Sets range from $9.99 to $29.99.

New LEGO Classic gives builders a “no instructions necessary” LEGO building experience punctuated by assorted basic bricks and specialty elements from the full LEGO color palette. Each set provides building inspiration that highlights the possibilities of open-ended building to inspire endless play. Five sets, ranging from $16.99 to $59.99, two of which come in reusable plastic storage bins, make it the perfect solution for gift-givers or for families looking to add to an existing LEGO collection or inspire their child to try building.

Creative Building (Ages 5+)
LEGO Creator offers vehicles, creatures and structures such as a Sea Plane, Rainforest Creatures, and Toy & Grocery Shop each with 3-in-1 building options, delivering hours of play value. Sets range from $4.99 to $69.99. Advanced builders will love the challenge of new LEGO Technic sets such as Motor Bike and Sea Plane that offer technical elements like gears, beams, pulleys, actuators and pneumatics. Themed Building (Ages 5+)
LEGO City puts a build-and-play spotlight on real-life heroes, packed with detailed models, exciting missions and humorous characters. Thirty new sets cater to a variety of interests, anchored by five new subthemes: Demolition, Swamp Police, Space Port, Town Transport and Sea Exploration. Sets range from $6.99 to $189.99.

LEGO Friends offers realistic building paired with richly detailed elements and role play centered on the adventures of five girls who reside in Heartlake City. Twenty-one new building sets in new Vet Clinic, Tourism and Pop Star subthemes, such as Vet Ambulance, Air Balloon and Recording Studio are complemented by digital and television content that will be introduced throughout the year. Sets range from $4.99 to $59.99.

The iconic LEGO Pirates theme is back for 2015 with five new sets offering children story starters with immense role-play value through sets like Skull Island, Soldiers Fortress and Pirate Ship depicting classic scenes of buried treasure and sword fights. Sets range from $12.99 to $99.99.

LEGO Speed Champions lets builders create some of the fastest and most popular supercars in the world, such as the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari. Sets range from $14.99 to $99.99.

Everyone’s favorite Master Builders are back from the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards winner for Best Animated Feature, “The LEGO Movie,” with three new sets that let fans recreate their favorite scenes, including Batman™ & Super Angry Kitty Attack, Double-Decker Couch and Bad Cop Car Chase, range from $9.99 to $29.99.

New LEGO Elves introduces builders to Emily, who needs the help of magical elves to return home after she is unexpectedly transported to their world. LEGO Legends of CHIMA™ based on an action-packed competition between animal tribes to obtain the power of CHI as told through a hit television series on Cartoon Network adds 12 new sets to continue the legend, including Tribe Packs, Tormak’s Shadow Blazerand Mammoth Ice Fortress. The LEGO Ninjago™ saga continues with new television episodes on Cartoon Network and 22 new building sets loaded with features and functions to provide hours of building and role play fun. New Airjitzu action toys send LEGO minifigures airborne and are perfect additions to larger sets such as Titanium Dragon, Ninja Mobile Base and Lava Pit Battle. Sets range from $6.99 to $129.99.

LEGO Ultra Agents return to hunt down a super villain before he destroys Astor City. An app merges physical and digital LEGO play, optimized by a new AppBrick that can be built into models. Eight new sets, including Invisible Gold Getaway, Agent Stealth Patroland UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter, offer older children a challenging build and rich storyline. Sets range from $9.99 to $99.99.

Licensed Building – The Walt Disney Company (Ages 5+)
Four new LEGO brand Disney Princess sets encourage children to build with timeless characters like Ariel and Jasmine or new favorites Elsa and Anna found in Elsa’s Ice Castle. Sets range from $12.99 to $54.99.

LEGO Super Heroes: MARVEL™ brings characters from comic books and new movie releases to LEGO brick form, including sets corresponding with Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Marvel’s Ant-Man. Sets range from $12.99 to $119.99.

LEGO Super Heroes: DC UNIVERSE™ introduces two new Batman™ and five Justice League™ sets, all of which have a new super jumper element for added play value.

New LEGO Scooby Doo™ lets children build and solve mysteries with Scooby and the Gang in five sets available in August featuring a Haunted Lighthouse, Mystery Mansion, the Mystery Machine and more ranging from $14.99 to $89.99.

LEGO BIONICLE®, the original constructible action figure line, returns with a re-imagined story of six heroes who rise to defeat evil on the mystical island of Okoto by using the island’s ancient power masks to save its population. Eighteen new sets ranging from $9.99 to $29.99 bring to life characters new and old, including six Toa: Gali, Pohatu, Lewa, Onua, Kopaka and Tahu.

Collectibles (Ages 5+)
LEGO Minifigures™ allow LEGO fans to collect and build their own minifigure population with 48 never-before-seen LEGO Minifigures debuting in three waves of 16 figures each. Series 13 debuts in January, a second series of The Simpsons™ launch in May and the first-ever holiday minifigure series arrives in September with the Halloween-themed Series 14. Sets are $3.99 each.

Wacky LEGO Mixels™ are back! These mini-characters deliver endless building opportunities and inspire creativity, imagination and hours of fun along the way. With three new series premiering this February, June and October, fans can collect 27 characters from the original Mixels content on Cartoon Network. Sets are $4.99 each.

LEGO Architecture celebrates the past, present and future of architecture through the medium of the LEGO brick. Each set contains a book featuring step-by-step building instructions along with history, information and photos of the world’s most iconic structures. The Lincoln Memorial ($29.99) and other landmarks will launch.

Through the online LEGO Ideas community, fans are invited to propose their original LEGO designs to become new LEGO sets and then vote for their favorites. Each year, several submissions are approved, produced and sold as official LEGO sets. Available now, LEGO Birds ($44.99), features detailed models of a hummingbird, blue jay and robin. Additional items will launch throughout the year based on The Big Bang Theory, Wall-E and Doctor Who.
