Hot Toys Thor Sixth Scale Figure from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Plus Augmented Reality App for Epic Photos

Hot Toys Thor Sixth Scale Figure Avengers Age of Ultron 007While most of Hot Toys’ 12-inch action figures from Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron have already been officially announced, there are still several popular characters that haven’t. The new Hot Toys Thor sixth scale figure was just announced by the Hong Kong based toy company, and they even have a special augmented reality surprise to help you take truly amazing photos.

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the movie, featuring a newly developed head sculpt, highly detailed costume, a LED light-up Mjolnir and an authentic metal Mjolnir with lightning effect accessory, and a specially designed figure base.

Furthermore, a specially designed 3D augmented reality (AR) app has been developed and will soon be available on iOS and Android devices to interact with the Thor collectible figure! With the use of the app, fans can explore and take photo of the striking 3D scene where a number of Ultron Prime’s dangerous sentries are swarming to attack the Asgardian prince!

There are two notable things about this figure – he has a LED light-up Mjolnir, and the Augmented Reality app. Neither of these things have been done on a Hot Toys figure before.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Augmented Reality, it is basically a real-world environment that is supplemented by computer generated content. Marvel has already been doing this with some of their products, and I’m very excited to see that Hot Toys is starting to embrace it in their figures as well. I only wonder if you could put other figures in the photo, so you don’t get bored only taking photos of Thor all the time.

The new Avengers Age of Ultron Thor sixth scale figure isn’t currently available for pre-order at the time of writing this, but if you keep visiting this page, you shouldn’t miss the limited pre-order opportunity.

UPDATE: Pre-orders are now available directly here.

Bryan first discovered an appreciation for action figures at an early age, setting up elaborate GI Joe ant hill attacks, complete with firework pyrotechnics. Due to the high injury rate for the Joes, replacements were a constant necessity.
