Thanos is one of the most infamous Marvel villains in comic book history. His first appearance in The Avengers already had many people wondering the Mad Titan’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in Guardians of the Galaxy; audiences are finally able to meet him fully when he gives his threatening speech to Ronan the Accuser. Hot Toys has just announced what I’m already going to consider one of the best figures of the year – the Hot Toys Thanos sixth scale figure!
The movie-accurate Thanos collectible figure is specially crafted based on the appearance of Thanos in the movie, featuring a newly developed helmeted head sculpt, meticulously sculpted armored body, and Thanos’ throne with LED light-up function.
He stands about 38cm tall (Hulk was 42cm to give you an idea of how big he’s going to be) and features 22 points of articulation (Hulk had 20). Basically, Thanos is slightly shorter than Hulk, but he has a couple more points of articulation.
I’m definitely going to be getting this figure, but I’m still wondering if Hot Toys is going to re-release Thanos as a 2-pack later on like they did with Hulk and Bruce Banner? I don’t know what other figure they might include in a potential 2-pack. Maybe Ronan the Accuser? Drax? Ronan hasn’t been revealed/announced, but I suppose that possibility is there if that’s the route they decide to go again.
If you are interested in this figure I would suggest that you pre-order it immediately. I would expect that such an iconic character, like Thanos, sells out while still on pre-order, even though Hot Toys seems to be having larger production runs than ever. You can place your pre-order here for $414.99 and he’s expected to start shopping in Q4 2015.
