Hot Toys Nick Fury Figure Review
Overall, this figure is amazing. The sculpt is a little bit weird with the big head from the front view but otherwise is incredible. He has a ton of great accessories, an amazing paint job, and really nice packaging.

CLICK HEREThe Avengers has to have been my absolute favorite movie of 2012. I was expecting that the Dark Knight Rises was going to be better than it really was, but the reality was that it just didn’t stand up to what I was anticipating it to be. To celebrate my favorite movie I picked up my first Hot Toys figure, Nick Fury. Join me as we take a look at the Hot Toys Nick Fury Figure Review!
This is actually my first 1/6th scale figure too. I missed out on the pre-order of this figure along with Hawkeye so I ended up having to pick this guy up on eBay for about $225 shipped. After getting him and checking him out I can say that I feel that he is well worth the value even though I paid more than the retail price. I would recommend that if you want to assemble your Avengers team that you get your pre-orders in now with Sideshow before they sell out on the upcoming releases.
Packaging
The packaging for Nick Fury is pretty basic it seems. On the outside of the slip box, there is a nice shot of the character. Once you slip off the sleeve the inside is very basic. There is a simple window after you remove the slip revealing the figure inside. There is nothing exciting inside at all. Nothing about the movie, nothing about S.H.I.E.L.D., and nothing about the character at all.
The thing that I did like about the packaging was that it was very collector friendly. You can open the box and get the figure out without damaging anything. I just wish that there was a little bit more jazz to spice things up.
Sculpt
Since this is my first Hot Toys figure I was absolutely amazed by the phenomenal sculpting job. There is a slight problem with how big his dome is, though. If you look at the box and then look at his bald head you will know what I am talking about. You only really notice if you look at the figure straight on from the front. From side angles, you don’t really notice.
This is an excellent sculpt of Sam Jackson. The eye patch is sculpted on and is not removable in case anyone was wondering. If you look closely at his face you can see insane details like veins and wrinkles. Killer sculpting job. I almost peed my pant when I saw how amazing the sculpt was at a first glance.
Paint
The paint on this figure also amazed me. Hot Toys somehow was able to capture an extremely high level of realism with their paint job.
The eyes are glossy much like the human eye. They also have red/veins in them also like the real deal. This is not an easy thing to do and Hot Toys seems to have mastered it. The skin tone is also excellent along with the hair lines. If you can see well enough in the pictures the detail on the scar on his eye is mind-blowing.
This figure, no joke, looks like a 12″ real life human being. Sitting there on the shelf I have to keep my eyes on him to be sure he doesn’t make a move on me.
Articulation
Articulation for Nick Fury is not a problem at all. It is rather amazing really. All of his joints work flawlessly. He can do what you can do. It is a simple as that.
The best part about the articulation is that the joints move so easily. There is no fight to try to get Nick in any of the poses that you may want. He just goes there. If you do take the jacket off you can move him slightly better than you can with the jacket on. Though, I would say that he doesn’t look near as cool with the jacket off as he does with it on.
Accessories and Costume
Accessories is where this figure really shines. He comes with so many! A basic rundown of what he has is 11 pairs of hands, extra wrist pegs, holster, pistol, RPG, Radio, Watch, Ear Piece, a display stand, and Tesseract w/case.
For the hands, he has 6 gloved rights and lefts, 4 ungloved rights and lefts, and a pair of specially posed gloved rights. All of the hands are meant of different accessories. Hot Toys has covered just about every base as far has hands go. If you can’t find the right and for what you want to do, then something must be wrong with you.
The hands are easily changeable and there are even extra wrist pegs in case you break some. I can’t really see it being possible breaking them, but hey, it never hurts to have extras.
He also has a leg holster that is meant for his right leg. There is also an extra strap to add to the coolness of the holster. The instructions want you to take his boot off to put the holster on but you can just slide it over his boot and up his leg. It works great but can be kind of hard to open the holster.
To go in the holster is a nice pistol with a removable magazine and moving slide. It looks great and fits nicely in his holster.
His other weapon, the RPG, has a very nice sculpt. It is actually very accurate (I actually got the chance to see one while overseas). There are a few moving parts like the sights are places where you could attach a sling.
There are a few smaller items too like the radio that has a clip on the back that you could attach to his belt. His ear piece is very small and you want to be careful not to lose it. The watch looks the best with his gloveless hands.
The Tesseract fits in the silver briefcase. The case just pops open if you just pull it apart. It comes with batteries and are nicely hidden along with the switch to turn on the lights. Once you turn on the lights it lights up the cube along with the wires and circuits. This case is very cool.
The costume is pretty good though as soon as I opened him without moving him at all a couple of the buttons (1 on each shoulder) fell off. Not too big of a problem since they were in the exact same spot, but still. As said before you can remove the coat but he doesn’t look nearly as cool with it off.
Fun Factor
Given all of the accessories that this figure has the fun factor is defiantly there. Though they aren’t really toys in a sense. If you get fun from posing your favorite movie characters then you should pick up a Hot Toys figure if you have not already. The articulation is amazing.
Overall
Overall this figure is amazing. The sculpt is a little bit weird with the big head from the front view but he is still an amazing figure. He has a ton of great accessories and an amazing paint job. If you are a fan of the Avengers like I am then you are going to want to be assembling your team. Avengers Assemble!
