Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man Sixth Scale Figure Review

If you pre-ordered the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man sixth scale figure, you’ve probably had him on pre-order for quite some time. The movie came out in the summer of 2012 and here we are in 2014 finally getting to look at him in a review. I know that I have anxiously been awaiting the Hot Toys Spider-Man 12 inch figure for quite some time, but I didn’t actually have him on pre-order. So some of you may have been anticipating him more than me. My wife actually got him for me for Christmas!

The movie just might be one of those movies that some people could easily forget, but if you collect 1/6 scale action figures then you really might want to actually consider picking up this quality Spider-Man figure.

The packaging is a shoebox style box, with a single tray of accessories packed inside in a very collector friendly manner. There are 5 pairs of interchangeable hands, 2 sets of webs (one set attaches onto the wrist peg), a figure stand, and 2 heads (one featuring the likeness of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man/ Peter Parker).

The likeness on the Andrew Garfield head sculpt is defiantly there, but the neck joint is lacking a bit of articulation. You can’t really look very far up or down, which may only bug the most picky of collectors. As always the paint is spot on, and the bloody scratch across his face looks very real with its glossy appearance.

The Spider-Man body is very flexible, though the instructions note that you should not raise his shoulders above 80 degrees to prevent shoulder damage. Though, I will say this is probably the most flexible Hot Toys body that I have ever dealt with. The costume really complements the body, as it is very flexible as well. One thing about the costume that I noticed is that the web shooters seemed slightly too high up on the forearm. Again, it’s really just a very minor issue.

Overall

Even if you didn’t like The Amazing Spider-Man, the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man sixth scale figure is a very good 12 inch Spider-Man figure to add to your collection. He has very good articulation, a great costume, and some great accessories. I think it would have been amazing if Hot Toys could have included a diorama base with the figure like they have with some of their previous Spider-Man figures, but even without this figure is great.

If you are interested in buying the Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man 1/6 scale figure, then it is still in stock at Sideshow Collectibles. Get if before it’s gone!

UPDATE: The figure is sold out at Sideshow.  However, if you’re interested in scoring one, you can still get them at Big Bad Toy Store.  You can also hop onto eBay and search for this Hot Toys Amazing Spider-Man figure.
