It’s been a long time coming but at last NECA’s Retro Hateful Eight action figures have been revealed! I have to say despite the fact that we haven’t seen the complete figures the profiles look excellent.
For those who don’t know The Hateful Eight is Quentin Tarantino’s latest film set in post-Civil War Wyoming and is about a group of bounty hunters trying to find shelter during a blizzard who deceive and betray each other to claim the bounty of Daisy Domergue. The trailers have been excellent and personally I’m really looking forward to seeing it.
I know the controversy that NECA had with releasing retro figures from Django Unchained, a line of which the figures are now incredibly rare and expensive.
As you can see NECA will be releasing the Hateful Eight:
- Major Marquis Warren (The Bounty Hunter) – Samuel L. Jackson
- General Sandy Smithers (The Confederate) – Bruce Dern
- Joe Gage (The Cow Puncher) – Michael Madsen
- Sheriff Chris Mannix (The Sheriff) – Walton Goggins
- John Ruth (The Hangman) – Kurt Russell
- Oswaldo Mobray (The Little Man) – Tim Roth
- Bob (The Mexican) – Demián Bichir
- Daisy Domergue (The Prisoner) – Jennifer Jason Leigh
I have to say the likenesses on these figures are superb, especially Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and Jennifer Jason Leigh. From what I can see of the clothing the tailoring looks excellent, especially on the trims of those fur coats. You can guess the sort of accessories they’ll come with; revolvers, rifles, shackles, holsters, gun belts and more.
Also, these figures will come in window box packaging (much akin to their upcoming Home Alone figures). This line is a limited edition line as only 3,000 figures of each character would be made. I need to get my hands on these.
I really love how NECA is expanding their retro line and it’s great to see another western property getting the figure treatment. It’s something we don’t really get enough of.
These figures will be released this winter and will cost $40.00 each. You can pre-order them here from the NECA Club, if you are looking for the whole set BBTS has them for about $34 each. I can only hope these figures make their way to UK shores soon as I would love to get these. These figures are simply a must have for your collection if you’re a fan of Tarantino and this upcoming film.
