This past weekend Hasbro held their Has-Con event where they showcased upcoming products from their biggest properties and licenses. On the first day which was Friday, they held a panel for all their upcoming Star Wars products. I have to say I was a little disappointed as there hasn’t been many new Black Series reveals for a while aside from the repaints for the most part so I was really excited for this event but we only got a handful of new figures which is odd because the Book of Boba Fett starts late December and there are no products out to tie in with the series. Though I have to say I was really pleased and impressed with two of the reveals. Though I am not forgetting the next Haslab project which looks absolutely amazing!
For the Vintage Collection, there was a handful of figures and most of them were re-releases they were Episode I padawan Anakin Skywalker, Episode II Obi-Wan Kenobi, Episode III Mace Windu and finally there was Ashoka Tano which really needed a re-release in the Vintage Collection line as that figure goes for an incredibly high price on the secondary market. The final reveal was the Nevarro Cantina playset and two other sets which were the Maldo Kries Mandalorian, Grogu, and Spiders. As well as a Rebel Trooper 4-pack which looks great and I wouldn’t mind having a collection like that in the Black Series line.
There wasn’t much to offer in the Black Series line and I should note that all these figures are from The Mandalorian Series 2 aside from the Disney Park Exclusives. For the regular releases, we saw that Mando is getting another deluxe release this time as the Maldo Kreis Mandalorian with Grogu and Spider. This is very similar to the other versions of Mando that we have gotten but this one has a snow paint job to him. The other figures that they revealed are Tank Driver Disguise Mayfield, Cobb Vanth, and Tython Boba Fett.
I am really excited for Cobb as I was hoping he would appear sometime in the line as I really like the character in his episode and his outfit as well so I am very excited about it. The likeness to Timothy Olyphant is excellent, it’s a bit of a shame he’s a deluxe release when he does not come with all that many accessories aside from the blaster pistol, rifle, helmet, and jetpack. Though I’ll still get him as he is a great character. I really like the Tython Boba Fett as well as he looks really unique and I loved it when he first appeared in the series and I don’t doubt we’ll see an armored version as well down the line. I just hope we don’t have to wait too long to see it. The Mayfield figure looks great and the likeness to Bill Burr is excellent but I would much prefer a figure of him from his appearance in the first series with all those blaster pistols and shoulder-mounted blaster.
The Disney Park exclusives are a First Order 3 Pack, Droid Depot Pack, and a Creature pack which is my favorite of the bunch. I would love to get these and I wonder if it’ll see an international release down the line.
There were a number of pipeline reveals which sounded excellent, They are Arc Trooper Jesse, Ashoka’s Clone Trooper, Super Commando Captain, Mandalorian in Morak Trooper Gear, and Endor Ewok Camp Leia which I am very curious about. I don’t doubt that it will be soft goods like the upcoming Yavin Leia.
Another lightsaber has joined their FX Lightsaber line and it’s Leia’s lightsaber that was seen in Rise of Skywalker. It should be noted that some of these products aren’t up for pre-order yet and most of these products will be released by next Summer
Finally, there was the official reveal of the Haslab Black Series Rancor, and wow! It looks absolutely outstanding. I have really liked the look of the Marvel Legends Haslab projects, but I am really tempted by this one as I am a big fan of Star Wars and this one looks absolutely incredible. I do wonder what the unlocks will be once they reach a certain number of backers. I would love to get this but I don’t think they do a payment plan which makes it very difficult for me to pay for it, but I have time to save up for it when it closes in December.
