During the Hasbro event over the weekend, they had panels revealing products from some of their biggest licenses and on Saturday they held a Marvel Legends Panel in which they revealed a number of new products. They revealed the first two figures in the Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Line, Some MCU Marvel Legends, 90’s X-Men The Animated Series figures, Retro 3.75 Marvel Legends Figures, Two retro carded figures as well as a few teasers for upcoming products.
Since the last live streaming event, they teased a Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Line, which then earlier this month Unparalleled Universe reviewed the Captain America figure which looked fantastic. This line is a homage to the Toybiz Marvel Legends figures which started the whole Marvel Legends line twenty years ago before Hasbro took over in the late 2000s. I was really impressed with the Captain America figure as I really love the Steve Rogers head sculpt. I know that it’s a repaint of the 80th-anniversary figure, but I have to say this one looks even better than that one and the accessories are amazing. The Iron Man figure looks evenly as good.
The only fault these releases are is that the dioramas are just pieces of card, unlike the original figures which had diorama pieces. I am surprised that they haven’t done that for these releases, but I think Hasbro has moved away from diorama’s completely when it comes to Marvel Legends. It should be noted that they have hinted that Toad and The Hulk will be released in this line too and I do wonder if they plan to release more than four figures in this line. The packaging for these look incredible I really dig them.
Hasbro’s Retro Marvel Legends at the 3.75 figure continues with the reveal of the Phoenix and Wolverine which are a two-pack. I’m not really into these but I do love the artwork on those cards. Sticking to the retro theme Hasbro revealed two more Marvel Legends figures on those retro cards and those two figures are West Coast Avengers Scarlet Witch and Vision. These two figures are re-releases I don’t know how Vision was released originally, but I know that Scarlet Witch was originally released in the family three-pack which also included Quicksilver and Magneto. I am very excited about these, especially Scarlet Witch as the three-pack is hard to get hold of. I do wonder if these will be released in the same wave that Lady Loki will be released in.
There wasn’t much that was revealed for the MCU Marvel Legends. The only reveals that they made were for a Captain America two-pack which had Sam Wilson’s Cap as well Steve Rogers Cap. Both of these figures look great and I am really impressed with the Anthony Mackie head sculpt as I don’t think they have used the face printing tech on figures of him before. The other reveal was from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Flashback Winter Soldier figure which looks ace. I know many fans including myself are very excited about this figure as we haven’t had a Captain America The Winter Soldier figure using the face printing tech before. Not only could you use it for the flashback scene but also your main MCU Winter Soldier era Winter Soldier figure as well which is great.
This figure is a big improvement over that original release as not only is utilizing the face printing tech but comes with actual weapons too. A must-have for me. Then finally for official releases that have an official release are the X-Men Animated Series figures. These figures are Wolverine and Jubilee and they look fantastic. I know that they are reworkings of the X-Men figures that we have gotten in releases but with a more cel-shaded look to them to recreate the look from the Animated Series and they come with a lot of accessories. But the best thing about these figures is that they came in retro VHS style boxes which use artwork from the original VHS boxes and they look sweet!
It should be noted that there are some exclusives which are the Retro Phoenix & Wolverine two-pack and the X-Men The Animated Series Figures. These are all Pulse exclusives and will be released next spring. They did tease some other figures that they will be releasing. One is Knull who will be included in a future wave and is the first of Donny Cates created Marvel characters and apparently won’t be the only one. They also revealed the next fan poll figure will be Despair who I don’t know all that much about. Also a Walgreen’s exclusive Baron Zemo looked great as well, I just hope it’s not to hard to get here in the UK. Finally, there was a teaser for the character Maggot who I remember reading some X-Men comics featuring him in the late 90’s early 2000’s
