Gentle Giant Reveals Four New Jumbo Figures – Super Powers, Secret Wars, and A Real American Hero
It looks like that we’ll be getting two new DC characters, a Marvel one and a G.I Joe figure. These figures are upscaled (to 12″) from the original figures with the same details and articulation that the originals had.
The Flash Jumbo figure is based on the Super Powers line from the 1980’s. If you recall they are doing several other characters from the original line, so be on the lookout in the future. They have captured all the details and articulation that the original figure had. If you’re a collector of Gentle Giant’s Jumbo Super Power figures, this is a must have.
The other DC character that they are releasing is Robin. He’s based on his look from the classic Batman Animated TV Series. The original figure came out in 1993. I remember having the original toy and this looks exactly the same, but bigger. I really do like it and I really like the cape. If you’re a fan of the animated series, this really hits the nostalgia factor.
I know that earlier this year that Gentle Giant revealed a Secret Wars Spiderman and Hobgoblin figures. Now they are continuing the trend of Secret Wars Jumbo figures with the release of Magneto. I never read the comic book run but I remember seeing it in the Spiderman animated series from the 1990’s. This figure is based on the original Secret Wars Magneto figure, which came out around the time of the run as a tie-in. This is very much the classic look of Magneto (minus the cape) and much like the original figure, he has no painted face.
Gentle Giant’s final Jumbo figure is a G.I Joe one. It’s a bazooka soldier (codename Zap) I know that earlier this year they revealed they were doing a Snake Eyes and Rock n Roll. Zap seems to be next. For those who don’t know Zap was one of the first figures to be released when the G.I Joe figure line launched in 1982. As you can see he comes with a bazooka for an accessory.
All four figures will come with upscaled packaging based on their original packaging and will be in re-sealable blister packs for collectors.
They can be pre-ordered here for about $90 each, with Zap costing quite a bit more at $120.
