I don’t know how they do it, but somehow Funko is able to obtain just about every license from just about any TV Show, Movie, or comic. Today I was sent the Funko Pop! Scarface Tony Montana vinyl figure with his 1963 Cadillac Car for review from Entertainment Earth. Let’s take a look…
If you have ever picked up a Funko Pop! vinyl figure before, you should pretty much know what to expect. This was my first time picking up one of the vinyl figures that actually comes with a car or something similar. I was pretty impressed, but there were a couple of issues…
The packaging the figure and car comes in is pretty much the standard Funko Pop! box, just much bigger. The style is exactly the same, which is something that collectors want if they are going to display the figure in the box. On the back of the box there are also a couple of screenshots from the movie, which I thought was a great touch.
Once you get the figure out of the packaging, it’s just a cute, black-eyed vinyl figure that is in the same style as other Pop! figures. The figure is articulated at the neck, allowing you to spin his head around.
Both the car and figure of Tony Montana appear to be made of the same vinyl material. Even though Pop! figures have very basic detail, Funko managed to include the scar on his eye. It just looks fantastic.
One problem that I had with this set, and other Funko Pop! vinyl figures, is the paint. Both the white drop-top on the car and the sliver accents could use a little bit better quality control. With some basic painting skills and the right materials, I’m sure you could easily fix the minor flaws.
