I don’t know if you know this about me or not, but I’m not much of a gamer. And by “not much”, I mean “at all”. Don’t get me wrong, I want to be a gamer in the worst way. I feel like I’m missing out on a beautifully, wonderful world. But, alas, that world is not for your friendly neighborhood jman. I’m too slow, too old. Nonono. Don’t cry for me, Argentina. I’ve come to accept my loss.
Still, though. I like to be a part of the “culture”. Especially when it comes to toys. Which bring us to DC Direct’s Batman: Arkham City Series 1 Batman infected figure (that’s what we in the biz call a “segue”. The professionals always make it look easy). Originally released in late 2011 early 2012, I’ve been holding onto this figure for sometime to open. I was thisclose to including him on my Top 6 Action Figures I still Haven’t Opened Yet, when I initially wrote the article. But, not every figure I haven’t opened can make the list.
Now, just because I’m not a gamer, doesn’t mean I don’t know what the game’s all about (I said I still like to be part of the culture!). Arkham City is the 2011 follow up to 2009’s Arkham Asylum. Batman here’s been infected by Joker with the Titan formula. And It’s all fun, hijinks and violence from there.
Much like all the figures that have been released under the “Arkham” name, Batman Infected is a well done figure. Sculpting, detailing, is all there. And much to my chagrin, so is the clamshell packaging. Here’s a little know fact about your friendly neighborhood jman. I hate clamshell packaging. Hate it. Almost as much as I hate twist ties.
However, this isn’t just your average clamshell packaging. Which, I realized after I took the front and back shots of Batman “on the card”, and then cut him open. It was after I was posing the figures for the first post-packaging shot that I realized I didn’t have an SD card in my camera. And, with no internal harddrive, either…those few pictures were taken on the air I exhaled. IDIOT!!!
Fortunately, the packaging being clamshell, I was able to stuff the figure back in in there to retake the pictures. And that’s when I realized the true coolness of the packaging…It’s a batman head! Look at it! It’s the Batman!!!
So, now maybe I don’t hate clamshells as much. Well, that’s not true I still do. I still don’t like plastic packaging. But, maybe, just this once, clamshell isn’t so bad…
Anyway…there are a bunch of cool figures in the Arkham City line, that I haven’t picked up yet. Robin, Azrael, Catwoman and…er, maybe I should stop here. I could make this into another article…
The new episode of your friendly neighborhood jman’s almost internet famous internet show is up! Click here for all the laffs!
