DC Multiverse Batman & Robin Wave!

Earlier this year McFarlane Toys previewed that they would be doing a DC Multiverse Batman & Robin wave. The initial reveal was just scans of the figures in the wave and the build-a-figure for that wave. The wave consists of Batman, Robin, Batgirl & Poison Ivy, with the BAF being Mr. Freeze. As a 90’s kid I was over the moon to see a wave of figures based on Batman and Robin, even though it’s not a very good film, nor am I really a big fan of it, I do have some nostalgia for it.

The scans piqued my interest, and when I saw the figures in the wave, I was incredibly impressed. I have not seen the film for a number of years and I have to say these figures look pretty close to their on-screen counterparts. I can definitely see George Clooney, Chris O’Donnell, Alica Silverstone, & Uma Thurman in the sculps with Uma being the strongest likeness. The only negative things I can say about these figures is they don’t have any interchangeable hands, weapons, and soft good capes.

The build-a-figure of Mr. Freeze looks fantastic and they are actually giving him a freeze gun with a removable effects piece! I should add that Batman & Robin comes with some freeze parts to show the effect of when he was hit with the freeze gun early in the film. The likeness to Arnold Schwarzenegger is pretty good and they got all the little details right in his costume as well.

These figures went up for pre-order last week and I pre-ordered them as soon as I could, but unfortunately, Poison Ivy already sold out before I could pre-order her, and now I’m struggling to find a store in the UK that still has her up for pre-order which isn’t sold out.

That’s my one gripe with McFarlane Toys when it comes to the older DC Movie figures that they make they either make them Amazon Exclusives which you cannot find on Amazon UK or they all/or some sell out very quickly at other retailers. It really is a you-snooze-you-lose situation and is incredibly annoying in the UK as not many walk-in stores stock McFarlane Toys at all. I hope that when they do a Batman 89/Returns & Batman Forever wave they don’t sell out too quickly and hopefully they’ll release the 89 Batmobile.
