Captain Action Custom Action Figure Contest “Bring On The Bad Guys” at SDCC 2015

San Diego Comic-Con is fast approaching and Captain Action Enterprises has announced their second annual Custom Action Figure Contest. Captain Action is the first super-hero action figure introduced by Ideal Toys in 1966. Captain Action, his sidekick Action Boy and their arch-nemesis Dr. Evil took on the identities of Superman, Batman, The Lone Ranger and others through costume and accessory packs.

Last year, figure customizers were invited to create new costumes and identities for Captain Action and his cohorts.

The custom costume contest is coming back and this year will focus on villains of pop culture and is subtitled Bring On The Bad Guys.

The judging will take place at a panel at San Diego Comic Con and the judges will include:

  • Marv Wolfman, Legendary Comics Creator
  • J. C. Vaughn, Vice President, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide
  • Daniel (Julius Marx) Pickett, Action Figure Insider
  • Michael Polis, Atomic Toybox Entertainment, Wildbrain and Yo Gabba Gabba
  • Michael Crawford, Captain Toy, MWC Toys

The time and place of the judging panel is to be announced but Captain Action can be found at SDCC Atomic Toybox Entertainment booth, #3921. In addition to displaying  several entries to this year’s custom action figure contest, as well as new Captain Action products and exclusives, The Captain Action team will have and updates on the animated series, a celebration of Captain Action’s appearance on the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide cover and several new product announcements.

For more information on the contest visit the Captain Action web site or their Facebook Page.

Bryan first discovered an appreciation for action figures at an early age, setting up elaborate GI Joe ant hill attacks, complete with firework pyrotechnics. Due to the high injury rate for the Joes, replacements were a constant necessity.
