Cancelled: NECA After Earth Kitai Action Figure

We have received news that the NECA After Earth Kitai Action Figure is going to be cancelled. While my first opinion of the action figure wasn’t very good, I guess NECA didn’t see good things about this figure either. They didn’t give a reason to why the figure would not be produced, they just stated that all orders for the figure are to be canceled at this time.

After Earth is scheduled to hit theaters on June 7, 2013 and I think this was going to be the only chance that we were going to have to get figures from the movie. I myself couldn’t really care less that this figure is cancelled, since it only had 7 points of articulation. What’s your opinion about the cancelation?

  1. I love NECA and all but that movie looks to be really bad. I guess they didn't get a lot of retailers on board for this one probably more because the movie just isn't getting much hype before you even judge the toy.

Probably for the best, you'd hate for them to ship something that bombs terribly and hurts them more over pulling the plug early before it goes to production.

  2. not to judge a book by its cover, but given the trailers and the fact that the smith child is not a very good actor, I think this movie is going to bomb, so it is a smart move on Neca's part. Seven points of articulation doesn't cut it these days when most 3 3/4" figures are boasting 20+
