Battle worn Captain Eagle brings Eagle Force back to action in 2015

If you blinked back in 1982, you may have very well missed a toy line that came and went, but captured a lot of young minds while they were at it.  At the tail end of their toy making business, Mego revealed Eagle Force at Toy Fair in 1982, hoping to take advantage of a political climate that celebrated the military.  While Hasbro was enlisting A Real American Hero, Mego brought Eagle Force to retail as a line of 2.5″ die cast action figures in gold deco paint schemes.  Perhaps unfairly, with the company’s bankruptcy shortly thereafter, Eagle Force failed to catch hold and did not last long.

One wonders if Mego had continued thriving whether Eagle Force would have put up a strong fight against the 1980’s G.I. Joe onslaught.

Fast forward a little over 30 years, and the folks from Fresh Monkey Fiction had announced that Eagle Force would be making its triumphant return to the 21st Century in 2015.  Over on the Eagle Force Returns Facebook page, there’s been some great commentary indicating that this iteration of Eagle Force would stand taller (4″ to be precise) and be more in line with modern construction and articulation.  This is all great news as far as I’m concerned.

Now word comes from Fresh Monkey Fiction that alongside Zica Toys, and utilizing the extremely skilled talents of  Boss Fight Studio, the Kickstarter campaign for Eagle Force is likely to launch in Q2, 2015, and here is our first look at the artwork for Captain Eagle himself!

Grizzled and weary, it’s obvious that Captain Eagle has been brought back into action, perhaps against his best wishes, and he’s gathering Eagle Force back together to face a new threat.  Or is it a new threat?  Time will tell if RIOT is also bringing some familiar faces back, but for now, enjoy this first terrific look at Captain Eagle and stay tuned to the Eagle Force Returns Facebook Page and EagleForceReturns.com for more intel!
