Bandai to revisit GoBots with new high end transforming toys

Fans of transforming robots from the 1980’s have been loving life over the past several years with the renaissance of Transformers.  Even if the films aren’t your thing, Hasbro’s work on Transformers Generations and Masterpiece are certain to touch the right nostalgia points.

But there were more than just Transformers back in the day…and many fans still have an affinity for Galoob’s somewhat overlooked GoBots line.  Regarded as second fiddle to the Transformers by many folks, the GoBots still managed to be successful enough to headline their own 80s animated series and provide a wealth of fun toys, even though they’ve been mostly invisible lately.

Fast forward to 2015, and word comes out that Bandai is planning to revisit Go-Bots by way of Machine Robo’s, which were the Japanese versions of the GoBots.  These items are described as being Masterpiece level high-end releases, and the image shows some very familiar faces including Leader-One, Cykill, and Turbo (among others).

I will admit, I was only a fringe fan of GoBots back in the 80’s, but I definitely had some and considering the massive popularity of transformer themed toys these days, it seems like a no brainer to dip back into that well.
