Bandai Japan Announces Star Wars License at Tokyo Toy Show 2014
The 2014 Tokyo Toy Show is currently under full swing and Bandai Japan has a surprise announcement. Bandai Japan has announced that they have acquired the Star Wars license, which allows them to make various models and action figures based on that certain empire that everyone seems to love.
Possibly the most surprising announcement from Bandai is that they will also be producing 6-inch Star Wars action figures, similar to what Hasbro is doing with their Star Wars Black Series figures and what Medicom is doing with their MAFEX Star Wars figures.
Bandai’s new 6-inch offerings include an S.H. Figuarts Darth Vader and Storm Trooper, but also 1/12 scale Darth Vader and C-3PO model kits. For the S.H. Figuarts figures, you should already know what to expect. Over 9,000 points of articulation and superb detail. The model kits are also going to feature some articulation, but I would assume it would be much less than the S.H. Figuarts figures.
Apart from the new 6-inch Star Wars action figures coming from Bandai Japan, they have also announced a number of other Star Wars products, including mini-busts, statues (Darth Vader Movie Realization Samurai), and 1/48th and 1/72nd scale Star Wars vehicles.
