6 Inch Star Wars Black Series Wave 1

One of my most anticipated reveals of Toy Fair 2013 was the 6 Inch Star Wars Black Series Wave 1. A couple weeks ago we first heard of this potentially amazing series that is going to be sculpted by Gentile Giant, but we were only give a couple image of Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Pilot suit.

The other 3 figures in wave 1 were finally revealed and they all look fantastic. After I saw Luke I was pretty convinced that I was going to have to collect this new line, but now after seeing Darth Maul, R2-D2, and the Sandtrooper, I’m in.

R2-D2 may look like the simple R2-D2 figure but really he comes with some goodies. His accessories include a pop out lightsaber from Return of the Jedi and his jets from Attack of the Clones. This allows for some nice display options.

Darth Maul may seem like a simple figure that seems like something you could probably just want to pass up on from this picture. What isn’t pictured in this official image from Hasbro is the alternate hooded head that also comes with him. The hooded head also has a robe attached to it, giving Darth a completely different look.

The Stormtrooper may feature some of the most realistic and convincing dirty armor that we have ever seen. He comes equipped with his backpack and an arsenal of weapons – he’s sure to be a fan favorite.

Here is Luke in his X-Wing Suit if you want to see him again:

The packaging for the Black Series looks very sharp too. I am a little bit worried about the black packages getting all mucked up at retail though. I am going to be pre-ordering my figures since most things Hasbro in my area is almost impossible to find. (poor distribution)

I’m curious to know what you think of the 6 Inch Star Wars Black Series Wave 1? Are you happy with what you see? Is this going to be a line that you are going to start collecting when they come out in August, 2013?
