The Terminator: Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Endoskeleton Figure Review
This is a fantastically sculpted figure, it's got great paint, and the 95% metal build looks fantastic. And the packaging is flat out amazing. The only problem is that you get one accessory, a cheap plastic plasma rifle. I expected more for the price. Otherwise, this is pretty amazing.

I’ve had The Terminator: Hot Toys 1/4 scale Endoskeleton for almost six months now. Ever since I have been given this wonderful opportunity to review figures, I’ve considered it my prescription to overcome my fear of opening my toys (special shout out to my psychiatrist, Dr. Nick Lenihan). And the one I couldn’t wait to open most was this figure. I preordered this from BBTS FOR $369.00. I had BIG expectations. My expectations can be likened to just finding out the homecoming queen wants YOU to take her to the prom. Yes, that big! Yesterday was prom night!
The packaging for The Terminator: Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Endoskeleton was gorgeous. I have honestly NEVER seen packaging like this. It was so pretty that I would have almost paid the price for just the box. What the picture doesn’t do justice for is the fact that the front image is three-dimensional, meaning the profile picture on the front of the box appears to have been adhered to foam, which was then adhered to the box. I can’t wait to see what the 1/4 scale batman box looks like!
After opening the box, as if to increase the suspense some more is another lid.
After this foam lid, is the piece de resistance.
After removing the figure and accompanying foam, the second tray with the base and accessories makes its debut.
The Terminator: Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Endoskeleton looks fantastic. It is 95% metal. I was very pleasantly surprised that the metal wasn’t 100% glistening. I expected unblemished metal. But the metal looks a bit worn, like tarnished. And I think that this is true to life. The folks at Skynet probably weren’t buffing the machine parts before assembly. Unfortunately, this detail couldn’t be displayed with a picture.
I am VERY impressed with what Hot Toys calls the “tubes”. The tubes appear to take the place of some human muscle, the sternocleidomastoid, and either the anterior deltoid (in the movie photos) or the subclavian artery (in the figure). The tubes are so fragile, Hot Toys plans on someone like me breaking them, and they supply more.
I must say, the face is fantastic. I mean, just look at it! And I am unable to look away from the teeth. After all, they are the only human part of the endoskeleton, aiding with the bad breath that Kyle Reese talks about with such disdain.
On the posterior view, the back half of the skull-cap is removed to reveal the batteries and the on / off button.
The base is oh so impressive. Straight out of a scene from the movie itself.
I’m very impressed. The hands and the toes have all the joints we have and true to the movie. The feet and legs are able to support the figure on its own.
A plasma rifle. That’s right, a plasma rifle. No, the moderator of this site hasn’t squelched my propensity for being verbose. I haven’t hit my word limit, and the moderator isn’t censoring me. It’s a plasma rifle. And a plastic one at that. VERY unimpressive. I have to take several rating stars away for this, especially taking into account the cost. The last figure I reviewed took me several hours working with the accessories. This one took thirty seconds.
It’s the day after prom night. I have a slight headache and am dismayed to realize I must have had rose colored glasses, and what was the prom queen thinking of going to the prom with me, anyway! Perhaps I was just expecting more due to the price. Indeed, the scale is fantastic. And it’s 95% metal, which is awesome. But the lack of accessories accompanied with the price have left a slightly sour taste in my mouth.
