SDCC 2014: Hasbro Celebrates Transformers 30th Anniversary with Knights of Unicron Set as an Exclusive
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Transformers, Hasbro has unveiled their Transformers Knights of Unicron set as their Transformers SDCC 2014 exclusive, which will be only available at their booth #3329 or through their website Hasbr0ToyShop.com after the show. You’ll have to hurry though, as Hasbro is notorious for selling out quickly when the demand is huge i.e. Star Wars Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite that was released at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
I know this is just for fun, but this sure is a fun exclusive and very apt for the Transformers brand, as they started around the same time as Glam Metal and it’s very clever merging Glam Metal with the Transformers figures.
In this set you’ll be getting Glam Rock/Metal versions of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Smooth Jazz and SoundWave, who form the band Knights of Unicron! Also joining the band are Ratbat and Lazerbeak.
Optimus Prime transforms into a Love truck, Megatron transforms into a Tank, Soundwave turns into an armored car and Smooth Jazz turns into a Blue Sports Car. Also Lazerbeak turns into a shredding electric guitar and Ratbat turns into a funky Keytar!
As you can see, all the figures have an awesome 80’s style paint job too them and to complete the look the main four Transformers have Glam hair on their heads. Personally I think the hair is too much, though I think it’s removable.
To complete the set you also get some great Knights of Unicron promotional material, such as special edition posters, stickers, and the tell-all story of the hardest-rocking band in the history of Cybertron. All this is yours for a single payment of $184.99.
