Marvel Universe Psylocke Review (Series 4)
Overall I am really impressed with this figure and I don't have any big problems with it whatsoever. It's brilliant for such a small figure. The only area that I think they could improve would be to give her a base, which would really utilize all her articulation without the fear of her toppling over.

This is my first ever review for Action Figure Fury and my first Marvel 3 3/4-inch figure review, which is of one of my all time favorite characters from my childhood. I’m really pleased to have the Marvel Universe Psylocke figure and write this review, as I think this figure is rather underrated. I know that the Marvel Universe line has changed quite a bit since this figure came out, so who knows we may get another Psylocke in future, or hopefully in the Legends scale.
Psylocke comes in the standard Marvel Universe Packaging. You can clearly see the artwork that it was inspired by and all her accessories inside the package. On the back we get an image of the figure the series of which she’s in and her figure number: 005. Along with a small biography and an advert for the other figures in the series.
I had no issues with opening the packaging or freeing the figure.
First Impressions and Sculpt
I’m a 90’s kid so this figure is how I remember what she looked like around that time. Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock is a psychic and telepath who uses psionic energy as well as being a skilled martial artist to fight her enemies. She’s most known for teaming with Captain Britain and the X-Men, and I have to say this a fantastic interpretation of her classic look from the 90’s. I love how the hair and face are sculpted and I love the fact she has red eyes just like in the artwork. I really dig it. Her proportions are great too as I know Hasbro can be a bit off with them sometimes.
I am really impressed how this figure has turned out especially for my first ever Marvel Universe figure. They’ve captured all the details. Her dyed purple hair, her shiny dark blue outfit and her red sash. She comes with a psion energy blast, which is pretty nifty, and her iconic psionic katana.
Psylocke features a lot of articulation for a small figure. She has:
Ball jointed head – which is hindered by her hair, which I have no problem with.
Ball jointed shoulders – you get a great range of motion out of these without being hindered by anything.
Hinged elbows – they are good but I would prefer ball joints.
Swivel wrists – very good I don’t expect ball jointed wrists on a small figure and they work very well.
Ball jointed hips – they work very well and you get a great range of motion pity she can’t stay up when in an extreme pose.
Double jointed knees- I didn’t realize that she double jointed knees until I played around with the figure they are fantastic.
Swivel hinge ankles – another surprise I did not expect they really help with her standing.
Psylocke comes with three accessories. First she has a psion energy blast (which I know is a re-use from some of the other Marvel Universe figures), which can go on either wrist and looks great in some poses. A psion katana (a katana molded in clear purple plastic), which she holds very well and the sculpt is great. It came out straight too! Finally, she comes with a collectible comic print, which looks good but serves no purpose and is printed on cheap cardboard. I would have much preferred a stand instead.
Overall the paint job on this figure is fantastic and I only have a few minor gripes with it. She has a bit of paint slop on the bands round her arms and legs, which can easily be fixed with a small brush and glossy blue paint. She also suffers from paint rub on her shoulder joints, which is to be expected. Other than that I don’t have any other issues, as the paint job is brilliant. Her hands and face are given a flesh tone like treatment, which looks really well, and the rest of her skin is just painted, which is okay with me.
I really love how her costume is done it looks really glossy and very nice with different shades of blue in it, which is just beautiful. It really shows the definition in her lower chest. The hair is a slightly muted purple, which I really like. There’s a nice black wash over it too. Her face is done very well for a small figure; I see no problem with it and love the stern expression. Her sash is a glossy red, which looks great and does not interfere with the articulation.
Overall I am really impressed with this figure and I don’t have any problems with it whatsoever. It’s brilliant for such a small figure. The only area that I think they could improve would be to give her a base, which would really utilize all her articulation without the fear of her toppling over.
I’d highly recommend this figure if you’re a fan of Psylocke, as it’s a great representation of her in the 3 3/4 scale. I know that back in the day Toybiz did a Marvel Legends Psylocke and Hasbro did an exclusive a year or so ago, but I would like to see another updated Marvel Legends Psylocke in the future. For now though I’m really impressed with this one.
