The┬áNext Hot Toys Diecast Figures Are Whiplash Mark II and Iron Man Mark XLII (Mark 42). I’m not sure about what order they will be released in or when they will officially be revealed, but they are going to be coming soon that’s for sure. They will fit in nicely with the recently revealed Hot Toys Diecast Iron Patriot 12 inch figure.

The details on Whiplashes armor is absolutly mind blowing, but I suppose that you will be paying for it with the increased prices due to the use of diecast. I don’t really know how many people are going to be attracted to the diecast series besides die-hard Iron Man fans due to the high cost of the figure. Hot Toys has done a pretty good job at making the plastic on thier recent figures look like metal anyways. I don’t really see a need for diecast.

What really needs to happen is I need to get one of these new 12 inch diecast figures in my hand so that I can feel him up. (no not like that.) Maybe once I get one in hand I will be convinced that diecast is the only way to go, but until then I won’t be convinced. Why buy 1 expensive figure why I can buy 2 or 3 cheaper figures?

The Iron Man Mark XLII (Mark 42) 12″ figure doesn’t have nearly as many details as whiplash, so I would expect him to be far cheaper in price. One thing I do like about him though is the fact that all of his joints are pretty well hidden. How much more real could we ask for?

Now I want to hear from you. What do you think about the new diecast series? Is this something that interests you or are you happy with the plastic figures that we have already? Leave me your opinion in the comments section below and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

The difference between plastic and diecast is that the metal shine on plastic becomes dull over time. You'd have uneven metallic shine on different parts on your very expensive "plastic" figure

Here's what he wrote, i'm not sure if its an exact ranslation but maybe you can compare it with your info:
"MK III and VII will get a diecast version, MK 42 and WM diecast coming soon, WP II will remain full plastic ."
The guy seems trustworthy, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out die cast, a lot of evidence says that's the case. But things change and honestly I really hope this turns out plastic.

          • Before I clicked the link I was hoping it was a text article… and then it was a .jpg. I think it is Chinese rather than Japanese. Why did I learn German instead of Chinese?

Anyway the gist of the article is about how HT tried to implement diecast earlier but failed due to too intricate designs in diecast moulds. Hence, diecast series will feature mostly ironman figures, Mark 3, 7, and the upcoming mark 42 and even war machine, but not the battle damaged versions or whiplash 2, due to design issues. A point to note is that the diecast issues will not resemble the older plastic issues. (will not have the same gimmicks i guess, such as interchangable armors pieces, esp the battle damaged ones)
